Is there an asthma diet?

ANSWER

  • There isn't good research on an exact diet for people with asthma. But it's a good idea to: Eat plenty of a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.
  • Eat foods with omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids -- found in fish like salmon, tuna, and sardines and some plant sources, like flaxseed.
  • Avoid trans fats and omega-6 fatty acids. They may worsen asthma and other serious health conditions such as heart disease.
