Asthma can be scary. Being prepared beforehand, can help ease some of the anxiety.

To be ready for a worst case scenario, have an action plan in place. Talk to your doctor to customize a plan that is right for your medical needs.

To start, immediately remove the trigger. Or when possible, move to a well ventilated room.

In order to open your air passages, sit up straight. Take off any tight fitting clothing so that there is no additional blockage.

Use your prescribed medications, such as the inhaler. Your doctor will have prescribed the proper dosage.

After taking your medicine, take long, slow, deep breaths to allow air into your lungs.

If you do not feel any improvement, call for help immediately.
