How much vitamin D do you need when you're pregnant?

ANSWER

You need 600 International Units (IU) per day. Don't take more than 4,000 IU a day. Your body makes vitamin D from exposure to the sun. But not everyone gets enough vitamin D this way, so it's important to also get vitamin D from food. Good sources include salmon; tuna; beef liver; cheese; eggs; mushrooms; and fortified foods, such as cereals, milk, and some fruit juices and soy beverages.
