Heartburn may start in the first trimester, but usually gets worse during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy -- as your uterus grows larger and presses on your stomach.
To avoid that burning sensation in your chest, try eating several small meals instead of three large ones, and don't lie down right after a meal. If heartburn is a problem at night, raise the head of your bed a few inches.
