Call your doctor ASAP about your back pain if:

  • You hurt your back in a fall or a car wreck.
  • You have new or worsening muscle weakness, sometimes with numbness or tingling.
  • Your bowel or bladder aren't working properly.
  • You've had pain for 6 weeks or more.
  • You've had cancer or unexplained weight loss before
  • You've had immune system problems before
  • You also have a fever
