Do shunt operations work for everyone with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH)?

ANSWER

Shunt operations don't work for everyone with NPH. While many people who have a shunt operation get relief, others have their symptoms get better then get worse again. Others don't see much improvement if any.

Doctors can't predict who will benefit and who won't.
