Bridget Swinney, MS, RD, has combined 15 years of experience as a registered dietitian with practical advice (learned from being a mom), turning it into two practical, easy-to-read consumer guides: Eating Expectantly and Healthy Food for Healthy Kids. Eating Expectantly was chosen as one of the top 10 parenting books published in 1993 by Child Magazine; a third edition was published in 2000.

Swinney currently works as a nutrition consultant and freelance writer. She has a master's degree in nutrition and has been a registered dietitian for 14 years. Her writing appears regularly in Parenting Magazine, Parent?s Magazine, and Parent's Expecting. She currently works from her home in Texas, where she lives with her husband and two school-aged sons.

Swinney has a variety of experiences in public speaking and media. She has given more than 125 interviews for television, including Good Morning America, Weekend Today, Later Today, the Fox Network, and the Food Network. She is the former media spokeswoman for the Colorado Dietetic Association, and her public speaking events include the American Dietetic Association Annual meeting, the Idaho Childbirth and Parenting Educators, and the Colorado Springs Women's Life Festival.
