Is fragile X syndrome different in girls than in boys?

ANSWER

Symptoms are usually milder in girls. While most boys with fragile X have trouble with learning and development, girls usually don't have these issues. When girls with fragile X grow up, they sometimes have trouble getting pregnant. They might also go into menopause earlier than usual.
