What causes Gaucher disease?

ANSWER

There are three main forms of Gaucher disease: types 1, 2, and 3. No matter which kind it is, the reason you have Gaucher is that you were born with a change in one of your genes called a mutation. This causes a certain fat to build up in organs like your bone marrow, liver, spleen, or nervous system, and leads to a variety of symptoms that range from mild to very serious.
