Can you take laxatives if you have a K-pouch?

ANSWER

If your stool becomes too thick and movement through the catheter slows down or has problems, you may need to drink more water, juice, or other beverages that dont have caffeine. Go for 10-12 glasses (8 ounces each) per day. Never take laxative preparations. They can cause diarrhea and lead to dehydration.
