Steven L. Zatz, M.D., is WebMD’s Chief Executive Officer, a position he was appointed to in September 2016. Dr. Zatz has been a member of the senior leadership of WebMD and its predecessor companies more than 20 years. Prior to his appointment as CEO, he served as WebMD President and oversaw all aspects of the Company’s advertising and sponsorship businesses. Earlier, he was Executive Vice President for Professional Services, and was responsible for the Company’s professional websites and services including Medscape, its flagship platform for physicians.
Under Dr. Zatz’s leadership, WebMD’s professional sites have become the leading source of online information for physicians and other health professionals, as well as the largest online source of continuing medical education. Dr. Zatz has overseen the development of Medscape’s strategic partnerships with leading professional societies, non-profits and academic centers.
Prior to joining WebMD, Dr. Zatz held leadership roles at US Quality Algorithms (USQA), which he founded as the quality measurement subsidiary of US Healthcare (now Aetna), and Physicians Online, where he was CEO.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Yale College. He graduated from Cornell University Medical College and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
