What is acanthosis nigricans?

ANSWER

Acanthosis nigricans usually happens in people who are very overweight. While there is no cure, losing weight may improve this skin condition. Other health conditions that can cause acanthosis of the skin include acromegaly and Cushing syndromes. Experts think that this health condition is a sign of insulin resistance.
