If you have type 2 diabetes, the idea of giving yourself insulin injections can be a little unnerving if you haven't done it before. But don't worry. Here are 3 ways to make injections easier.

By periodically switching the injection site, your body will have time to properly heal itself. Repeated injections to the same area will cause the scar tissue to harden over time. The more common place to inject is the abdomen. However, it's recommended to alternate between the back of the arms, hips, outer thighs, and buttocks.

Always space injections one inch apart from the previous spot. While you should always store insulin in a cool environment, a cold liquid entering the body can be somewhat plus. By exposing the insulin to room temperature for a brief period of time, you will be more at ease when injecting yourself.

Stressing over an injection can cause your body to tense up. In turn, the nerves and the muscles become sensitive, making levels of discomfort increase. Instead, you should massage the area around the preferred site to help relieve tension before continuing with the insulin injection. Putting these tips into practice will ease your mind and make the process of injections a breeze.
