OK. There's a number of different mechanisms by which Type II diabetes is not good for the brain. There's been a lot of work looking at very low blood sugar episodes. So these are very acute events that is associated with a higher risk. We also know that people who have elevated high blood sugar over a long period are also at higher risk for the brain.

What we don't know yet is everything in the middle. What is the long-term pattern of blood sugar control that's best for the brain? That is something that future work has to look at.
