How well does the body absorb ALA?

ANSWER

Eating foods with ALA such as yeast, organ meats like liver and heart, spinach, broccoli, and potatoes doesn't appear to raise the level of free ALA in the body.

Studies show that about 30% to 40% of the oral dose of an ALA supplement is absorbed. It might be better if taken on an empty stomach.
