How effective are probiotics?

ANSWER

They have a lot of promise, but probiotics aren't going to work for everyone. Talk to your doctor before you try one. And don't stop any medical treatment you're already getting just because you're trying a probiotic. If you start taking one, give it a month to see if it works for you. If it doesn't, it's probably time to try something else.
