- decreased function of the adrenal gland
- adrenal gland problems
- anemia
- low levels of white blood cells
- confusion
- addiction to a drug
- depression
- heart failure
- thrombophlebitis, an inflamed vein due to a blood clot
- throat swelling
- vocal cord swelling
- a spasm of the larynx
- a complete or partial collapse of the lung airways called atelectasis
- lung failure causing loss of breath
- decreased lung function
- bronchospasm
- blocked bowels with decreased peristaltic movement
- inflammation of the skin due to an allergy
- hives
- an abnormal increase in muscle tone
- hallucinations
- sleep apnea
- a skin rash
- a condition where the body is unable to maintain adequate blood flow called shock
