- FDB Only When Necessary: NEONATAL WITHDRAWAL/RESP.DEPRESS. W/CHRONIC OR HIGH DOSE
If you are NURSING
- Precaution: BREASTFEEDING ACCEPTABLE DURING TREATMENT; MONITOR INFANT FOR RESP DEPRESSION
If you are an adult over 60
- management or monitoring precaution: Pulmonary-DO NOT use in opioid intolerance. Increased risk of fatal respiratory depression due to altered pharmacokinetics. Monitor closely at initiation and dose titration and when giving with other drugs that cause respiratory depression. Renal-Start with low dose for renal impairment. Neuro/Psych-Risk for confusion, delirium and falls. Avoid treatment with 3 or more CNS active agents. Cardiovascular-QT prolongation risk, particularly with accumulation, syncope risk.
Giving Methadone Intensol to a child under 12
- Severe Precaution: Potential increased sensitivity to effects, adverse CNS effects and respiratory depression.
