Who should not take Leflunomide?

The following conditions are contraindicated with this drug. Check with your physician if you have any of the following:


  • active tuberculosis
  • inactive tuberculosis
  • chronic hepatitis B
  • Chronic Hepatitis C
  • aspergillosis
  • pneumonia caused by Pneumocystis jirovecii organism
  • severe infection
  • reduction in the body's resistance to infection
  • acquired decrease of all cells in the blood
  • severely decreased activity of the bone marrow
  • anemia
  • decreased blood platelets
  • deficiency of granulocytes a type of white blood cell
  • decreased neutrophils a type of white blood cell
  • peripheral neuropathy
  • interstitial pneumonitis
  • liver failure
  • liver problems
  • kidney disease with reduction in kidney function
  • abnormal liver function tests
  • pregnancy
  • a mother who is producing milk and breastfeeding
  • Acute Inflammation of the Liver due to Hepatitis C Virus
  • hepatitis B
