management or monitoring precaution: Gastrointestinal-Drug plasma concentrations may be elevated by 40% in elderly. Postmarketing experience suggests that elderly patients may be at greater risk for complications of constipation. Discontinue immediately in patients who develop constipation or symptoms of ischemic colitis. Do not resume in patients who develop ischemic colitis.
Giving alosetron HCL to a child under 12:
management or monitoring precaution: Severe constipation may result in serious complications or ischemic colitis. Not recommended in pediatrics.
