Who should not take Lotronex?

The following conditions are contraindicated with this drug. Check with your physician if you have any of the following:


  • increased risk of blood clotting
  • thrombophlebitis
  • an inflamed vein due to a blood clot
  • Crohn's disease
  • ulcerative colitis
  • an inflammatory condition of the intestines
  • toxic megacolon
  • an ischemic bowel
  • a condition where the blood flow to the intestine is significantly decreased
  • inflammation of the large intestine
  • blockage of the stomach or intestine
  • diverticulitis
  • constipation
  • adhesions of the stomach or intestines
  • blood coming from anus
  • liver problems
  • severe liver disease
  • a rupture in the wall of the stomach or intestine
