  • headache
  • reactions at the site of the injection

INFREQUENT side effects

  • anemia
  • clouding of the lens of the eye called cataracts
  • vision loss
  • pink eye
  • inflammation of the eyelid
  • bleeding in the eye
  • high blood pressure
  • atrial fibrillation
  • pneumonia
  • abnormal liver function tests

  • double vision
  • dry eye
  • enlarged superficial veins
  • throat irritation
  • constipation
  • enlarged prostate
  • increased sensitivity of the skin to the sun
  • a type of skin condition with redness and itching called eczema
  • joint pain
  • backache
  • muscle weakness
  • sensation of spinning or whirling
  • a sleep disorder
  • fever
  • flu-like symptoms
  • numbness
  • cough
  • nausea
  • elevation of proteins in the urine
  • generalized weakness

RARE side effects

  • low levels of white blood cells
  • detachment of the retina of the eye
  • chest pain
  • a significant type of allergic reaction called anaphylaxis
  • a hypersensitivity reaction to a drug
  • damage to the skin and tissue around the injection site
  • tear of retinal pigment epithelium

  • hearing loss
  • pain in the muscles or bones
