  • bleeding
  • stomatitis, a condition with painful swelling and sores inside the mouth

  • hair loss
  • headache
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • stomach cramps

INFREQUENT side effects

  • cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle
  • abnormal heart rhythm
  • chronic heart failure
  • redness of skin following radiation therapy
  • seizures
  • reactions at the site of the injection
  • tissue death
  • tumor lysis syndrome

  • a painful condition that affects the nerves in the legs and arms called peripheral neuropathy
  • mental status changes
  • fever

RARE side effects

  • significantly decreased activity of the bone marrow
  • a heart attack
  • inflammation of the small and large intestine
  • a hole in the intestine
  • decreased kidney function
  • inflammation of the skin due to an allergy
  • hives
  • a skin rash
  • abnormal liver function tests
  • damage to the skin and tissue around the injection site
  • radiation recall syndrome
