What should I Know Regarding Pregnancy, Nursing and Administering Tagamet Oral to Children or the Elderly?

If you are pregnant

  • Not Recommended:

    • If you are nursing

  • Precaution: INSUFFICIENT DATA AVAILABLE; LIMITED DATA SUGGEST AMOUNT EXCRETED IS MINIMAL

    • If you are an adult over 60

  • management or monitoring precaution: Neuro/Psych-Avoid in older adults with or at high risk of delirium because of inducing or worsening delirium. Avoid in elderly with dementia or cognitive impairment. Renal-Renal impairment may increase risk for confusion in elderly. Avoid or reduce dose for CLCr < 50 mL/min. Hepatic-Hepatic impairment may increase risk for confusion.

    • Pediatric use

  • Severe Precaution: Limited pediatric data. Manufacturer does not recommend age < 16 years.
