What should I Know Regarding Pregnancy, Nursing and Administering PACERONE to Children or the Elderly?
If you are PREGNANT
- Not Recommended:
If you are NURSING
- Precaution: POSSIBLE HYPOTHYROIDISM & CV EFFECTS;CONSIDER LONG T1/2 OF DRUG(15-142 DAYS)
If you are an adult over 60
- management or monitoring precaution: Cardiovascular-Risk for Torsades de pointes. Follow QTc intervals. Endocrine-Monitor for hyperthyroidism. Pulmonary-Toxicity has been reported days to weeks after drug initiation. Preexisting pulmonary disease incurs a poorer prognosis if toxicity develops. Monitor for cough and progressive dyspnea. Hepatic-Elevated hepatic transaminases are common. Neuro/Psych-Monitor for peripheral neuropathy, coordination and gait deficits. Optic neuropathy and neuritis has been reported.
Giving Haloperidol to a child under 12
- Severe Precaution: Risk of AV block, bradycardia, hypotension. Safety and efficacy not established per manufacturer.
