- management or monitoring precaution: Endocrine-Risk for hypoglycemia, monitor closely patient with diabetes. Musculoskeletal-Risk for tendon rupture increases with aging. Increased risk with steroid use. Cardiovascular-Elderly at increased risk for QT prolongation. Increased rate of aortic aneurysm and dissection within two months of use, Neuro/Psych-Risk for peripheral neuropathy which may affect walking and increase fall risk. CNS stimulation may occur (e.g., confusion, anxiety, insomnia).
Giving Factive to a child under 12
- Severe Precaution: No safety and efficacy age < 18 years. Tendinitis risk. Arthropathy seen in animal studies.
