My Dr. started me on 100 mlg of this medication to start. We then moved it up to 150 mlg. I have been having extreme muscle aches in my legs, knees, arms, and hips. I want to sleep during the day but cant seem to get to sleep at night. Anyone else having the pains from this medication?

I am prescribed 100mg of fluvoxamine extended release to help with my social anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I initially took it at night, but after a week of averaging 4 hours of sleep a night, I started taking it in the mornings. I still have disrupted sleep, but now i can stay sleeping for about 5 or 6 hours before I wake up , tossing and turning and have racing thoughts of everything. The OCD has increased during that time, but anxiety and OCD is much better throughout the day. I am more outgoing and don't dread normal daily activities, like I used to. My main complaint is the disruptive sleep. It has been a month and a half since I started taking this and I'm really hoping my sleep gets back to normal. I never had issues sleeping before. Will have to discontinue if this persists. Read More Read Less

Luvox is one of the four psychiatric medications I take. I think that luvox is a very helpful drug that treats my OCD (along with Abilify). I also take Lamictal because I possibly have Bipolar II. Just the Luvox alone does not help with my depression enough. If you have extremely, horrendously, off-the-charts severe anxiety, try some Abilify too because Luvox might not help enough. Be ready for nausea for the first three weeks!

I have been on luvox 150 for major depression and anxiety, this drug has litterly saved my life. I feel normal now and almost afraid to get off of it. It was difficult to take at first but over about 6 months most of side effects are gone. Lobito is low but that is worth having my life back.

I was recently diagnosed with severe OCD, mostly Obsessive thoughts, and a few compulsions. My Psychiatrist started me on Luvox 1 50mg tab a week, until I reached the max dose she suggested of 200. At 200mg I literally had no drive for life...and i started feeling hopeless and depressed because I felt like I couldnt do literally ANYTHING. I could stay in bed all day. didnt care to take a shower, shave my legs, or even eat.I was skipping shifts at work ( I work two jobs) and stopping contact with friends and family. I have lost almost 10 lbs since starting this med. My Obsessive thoughts calmed down a bit, but I would rather have them there then have no motivation. It seems like a Catch 22. Because my OCD seems to keep me motivated, and now I felt like a Zombie...and I couldnt even tell if my OCD was improving. Being a QMHA myself I figured the dose was too high, and my doc has started to wean me down. I am now on half that dose 100 mg. and have a little bit of motivation back, but not much. Im gunna give this dose a few weeks, and if it doesnt change I'm done. I'll need to find a new way to deal with my OCD, because I lead too busy of a lifestyle to be heavily medicated. Side note is that this is teh second drug I have tried for OCD. The first was Abilify, and I was done with that within 2 weeks, as it is HEAVILY sedating, and made my OCD worse.Read More Read Less

It is happening quickly, and I have still only been on the generic Luvox for about a week now. I did not do a thing all day today except for stay in bed. If that is what the medication is going to do for me, make me not care about anything, then I am going to quit taking it. It is a good thing I only took 1/2 a pill daily instead of what the psychiatrist wanted me to take. I would hate to see how much worse it would have been had I taken the whole dose every day.

I have still only been on the generic Luvox for a short time but I have noticed that the more I take it the more I have a hard time staying awake and I have almost no desire to do any of my housework. I have even almost totally lost my interest in vacuuming and that was something I would do up to 6 times a day and would have probably done it more often even than that if I could have. My hygiene is also not so good. I have not showered in a couple of days now and I shower every single day, twice a day if I feel the need to. How many times I shower depends on how much work I do. I always move the furniture to vacuum. I definitely have to discuss with my psychiatrist about stopping the medication or lowering the dose. It may sound really strange to those of you who are still having severe OCD problems but I actually wish I could go back to the way I was as opposed to not caring very much about doing anything at all.Read More Read Less

I have only been on Fluvoxamine Maleate 25 MG for a few days now. That is the generic for Luvox. A while after the first 2 doses, I was kind of tired and more irritable and moody than usual. The tiredness is going away already and my moods are evening back out already. I have already noticed just in a short time that the compulsions to keep cleaning all day and all night are not as bad and that I am actually taking some time out for myself, for short periods, during the day and I am also sleeping slightly better since housework is not a constant thing on my mind. I hope that as I continue to take this medication that it will work even better as time goes by. For anyone who is having serious side effects, please talk to your psychiatrist right away and wean off of it as the psychiatrist suggests that you should do. I have read some really disturbing reviews on this medication and was afraid to start taking it so I talked to my pharmacist about the medication before starting to take it and that did help to ease my mind and made the decision to start taking it much easier for me. Please DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE ABOUT A NEW MEDICATION BEFORE YOU START TO TAKE IT. I hope that this review will be helpful to at least some people who read it.Read More Read Less

I started with a very low dose of 25mg then went to 50 after 4 days as prescribed by my Doctor. It made me feel bloated all the time and my anxiety and depression worsened after going up to 50mg so I stopped taking it.

This drug should be illegal!!! The side effects were intense and not worth it. I thought I had to go to the ER. I was getting tremors in my hands then started losing control of my hands and the right side of my face. I got terrible bruising all over my legs. Nausea, didn't want to eat anything. Oh, yeah and no sleep on this med. I felt like I wasn't in control of my body or emotions. Was very weird. I know there are some very positive reviews here but please use with caution. Ive taken many ssris'. I dont like any of them but this drug is evil and I have never experienced such terrible withdrawal in my life. I felt like I might die and was so scared!Read More Read Less

This medication works fairly well, but the choice to use it or not is a bit of a toss-up when you consider the side effects. It helps with anxiety and OCD, reducing the impact to about half what it was before, but the effectiveness fluctuates. My doctor says that I should take a higher dose (I take 100mg) to get a better effect, but any dose higher than what I take now is too hard for me to handle. The side effects that come to mind are near constant sleepiness and occasional binge eating episodes.Read More Read Less

I have only been taking Luvox for 3 weeks thus far. I am on 50 mgs of it and I find that I sleep almost all day long, everyday. I wonder if there is a correlation? I take my dose in the morning and feel drugged the rest of the day. I take two 3 hour naps per day. Could it be the Luvox?

I have tried handfuls of other drugs, and Luvox is the only one that has worked wonders for my OCD- I actually forget I have it most times. It no longer affects my life. The cons associated with this drug are a decreased sex drive and bad withdrawal symptoms if I miss one, or especially two, doses. I get vertigo and nausea. Otherwise few side effects while taking it.
