I had a tooth extraction, and developed a bacterial infection along with dry socket. I took 300mg capsules 4xday x 6 days. It cleared up the infection quickly. I had no stomach upset, even though I have an old stomach ulcer. I am a nurse, and have seen this drug prescribed many times for various bacterial conditions.. I would recommend it. I personally have many drug allergies, and had no problems...

Prescribed by my dentist before having a root canal retreated due to an abscess. After two days of taking the medication I began experiencing terrible stomach cramps and diarrhea. I called my dentist who advised me to stop taking it immediately. After looking the medicine up online I am shocked I was given it in the first place. I have a very sensitive stomach and am a small person. This medicine ...

I get bit by a cat on my leg that got infected so I was put on Amoxicillin. After 5 days I still had a infection but there were red streaks starting to show. So back to the dr and he put me on clindamycin (CLEOCIN) 300 mg capsule; Take 1 capsule (300 mg total) by mouth 3 (three) times a day for 7 days on top of taking the amoxicillian 5 times a day. Day one I started it in the evening so only took one that day. No issues. The next day I took one in the morning. I thought I was dying. I was in severe pain from severe heartburn. I had painful bubbling in my stomach and could feel all the bubbling coming up my esophagus. It would not stop!!! I took Tums...did nothing at all!!! No anti acid med helped and I mean none!!! I was in so much pain from it that I couldn't get out of bed. I kept sipping ice water. When I did the bubbling went down but within seconds it was back. So I did that for a hour till it FINALLY started to go away. It was like I had to wait for my stomach to digest the pill for the pain to go away. I tried to eat first on the second pill... didn't do anything. I couldn't take anymore. I literally missed work because of taking this medication. So not only did it cause severe pain it caused me to miss work and money!!! I told the dr what is going on and they said to stop the medication right away and to keep taking the amoxicillin but keep an eye on the red streaks. They did go away and the cat bite got better after finishing the amoxicillin. But then 2 weeks later I started having nasty foul bowl movements. Severe depression and fatigue. So much so I literally didn't want to...well be here anymore. I have never had depression so horrible!! Then I noticed white patches in my mouth. So back to the dr AGAIN! Here I get oral thrush and candida. I got prescribed a anti fungal medication. I never had issues in all my 38 years with amoxicillin. I know it was from taking Cleocin. It killed ALL bacteria in my stomach, digestion track. All good all bad everything. So the natural fungus in my body (we all have it) took over. Never in my life have I heard of candida. Well here it is 4 months later and still dealing with it. It is ruining my life!!! Well Cleocin has affected my life so negatively. I 100% suggest not to take it. It should not be approved. I am taking probiotics which have been helping but I still don't feel like myself before I ever took Cleocin. Read More Read Less

worst experience of my life. i’m a perfectly healthy 16 year old. I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed 2 days ago. there were no complications and my mouth feels great! the issue is the antibiotic they gave me, clindamycin. i’ve been unable to fully breath, talk, walk or swallow since 11:30 yesterday. finally stopped taking it because i couldn’t deal with the pain it caused. i’ve spent the past 48 hours in excruciating pain, screaming for the pain in my chest to stop. I do NOT recommend taking this.Read More Read Less

I took this for a sinus infection which it cleared up very fast but the side effects came a couple of days later. SEVERE DIARRHEA. At times, I could not even make it to the bathroom. I had mucus in my stool which I've never had before. Dizziness and stomach pain. 4 weeks later I'm still battling DIARRHEA and have to be careful what I eat and when I go out. I've been told the side effects could last up to six months. Take at your own risk

I wish I'd researched the horrible side effects of Clindamycin before taking it. On day 6, I began having mild stomach upset and a bad taste in my mouth that wouldn't go away. I continued the medication hoping the issues would subside. By day ten I had severe abdominal cramping, nausea and bouts of diarrhea every five minutes. I discontinued the Clindamycin and I spent two days in bed googling how to heal myself. I began drinking sugar free ginger ale and cranberry juice and took a turmeric capsules and my symptoms began to ease up a little and I was able to fall asleep for a few hours. My stomach hurts still two days later but I am feeling better. My stomach is bloated and sore and I'm having multiple bm's every day. It feels like permanent damage was done and I'm concerned about that. I wouldn't recommend that anybody take this drug because of all the things I've read that have happened to other people as well. Also, do not take an opiode with this drug. Google and learn the facts before you take any new drug. I will from now on. Read More Read Less

Severe tooth infection, prescribed 300mg 4x per day, 7 days. I'm only on day 5, but I've had zero side effects (knock on wood after reading these reviews) and didn't eat for the first two days due to tooth pain. I had to have my tooth pulled on day 2, but continued the clindamycin to ensure zero infection remains from the fractured tooth. Other medications I'm taking have included tylenol (3-4,000 mg/day) and I haven't adjusted my diet or water intake (about 80 oz/day). I'll certainly update this review with the same username if this changes!Read More Read Less

This drug is effective for treatment of tooth infections. I cannot take other antibiotics, so for me, Clindamycin has a low profile of common side effects. The only side effect so far, after taking it for 3 days, is a canker sore in my mouth. Not unbearable, compared to other more serious side effects. It's a good drug if you're allergic to other antibiotics.

I developed severe heartburn and oesophagatis for several months, rash, diarrhoea, vomiting and headache after taking clindamycin for an abscess. My body has never been the same after taking this drug. Stay away from Clindamycin. It is a dangerous drug and will destroy your body.

I had to take this 300 mg , 3 times a day for five days after a lower molar extraction as a result of tooth decay below the gum-line . After 3 days I had to reduce the dosage because of nausea, I stopped the forth day. There was no sign of swelling or infection. So it worked as a preventative . Normally I am able to complete an antibiotics course and get constipation, but not this one. Beside the nausea I developed a few painful spots on my skin and also mild diareah. Three weeks later and my gut still does behave well and my gums are pale from an anaemia . I would not recommend it. Read More Read Less

I was terrified to take this after I saw all the horrible reviews. But I had no choice. I'd already been on amoxicillin for 7 days for a dental abscess and had to try clindamycin. Let me say I have EXTREME anxiety and HATE taking anything. So I was nervous. Anyway I had read some people said drink LOTS of water with it and take a probiotic, so I did. I drank 30oz with every dose (3 times a day) and took a probiotic halfway between doses 2 and 3. I also sipped water throughout the day (no juice, coffee, soda etc. I had almost ZERO side effects. I did notice for about an hour after each dose, I felt a little dizzy/out of it. Nothing major (could have just been my anxiety too). I also did use the bathroom more often, but honestly with my level of anxiety I was not surprised. That was it. And it cleared up my infection totally! I will continue the probiotics and lots of water at least for a month to be sure. But this stuff works. Don't let the reviews scare you. I think lots of water is key. Read More Read Less

Was Rx'd Clindamycin for a bacterial skin infection. Am on day 6 of 20 and have noticed an improvement. I have had a bit of diahrreah, but I have found that taking a probiotic or eating yogurt helps with this. I have had no heart burn, nausea or vomiting, but have had a little dizziness. Took abut 4 days to notice a difference in my rash that I am taking the meds for, but it does seem to be helping. Hopefully the remaining 14 days will go as smoothly.

Take with a full glass of milk(not sure if it matters whether it's dairy or alternative) to lessen any heartburn, and be sure to sit up straight for at least a half hour after swallowing. So don't take it just before bed. Foamy antacids like gaviscon can help safely deal with the heartburn in most people. I have also experienced drowsiness, nausea, and light diarrhea while on it. My personal dosage was for 300mg, 4 times a day.

Please realize that people who take a drug with no problems generally do not look it up on the internet and comment about it. They go about their lives and don’t think about the drug. Reading these comments is at best a biased survey of people who had issues taking it, with little or no commentary from the vast majority who had no problems.

Was prescribed clindamycin after a tooth was pulled and I started to feel a bit of sensitivity in my left sinus. Took two pills and had to stop because the nausea was so severe. Canâ??t even sit up and raise my head because the room spins at such a rapid pace. Only time Iâ??ve ever experienced this level of nausea was after taking Demerol for pain when I was in the hospital after a sports injury. Might have to take Gravol to combat this because I canâ??t function.

Though the medication did work and my sinus infection is gone (acute sinusitis) it did cause a bad rash/hives. I contacted the doctor and he advised to cease taking the medication but advised since my symptoms from the infection improved, it was safe to assume it cured. He said the rash is an allergic reaction and would last a few days.

This worked very well for me, if you researched this drug, it says it is not for everyone, why would the dr give someone 3 doses of it if it wasnt working? It worked quick for me.

I was given Clindamycin to stop infected cheek after a dental cap. I took it for 2 weeks with a probiotic. 3 days after my last dose I have horrible stomach cramps and greenish diarrhea and some flesh colored particles mixed in. I canâ??t keep anything down. I was waiting to see if the diarrhea subsides. So far, itâ??s going strong. I will have to contact my primary because the stomach pain is bad.

I was taking Amoxicillin after a root canal that I had on early June. A few weeks after taking it, I woke up with a swollen face. I was worried about it and had it for about 2 or 3 days until I got my parents to actually take me to the ER since the swelling and pain was intensifying. When I got there, I was met with a nurse who did my vitals and checked my mouth. It appeared to be obvs caused by an abscessed tooth and the people who performed the root canal did the wrong tooth though it was also infected but it was not as severe as the untreated one. So they fed me a few milliliters of a steroid in liquid form and prescribed me 300 mg of clindamycin 4x a day for 14 days. While taking it, it did help drain the abscess quite good. I was doing my research on clindamycin and I discovered there is an even higher chance of contracting C. Diff from the drug than any other antibiotic and it's probably because it's stronger than most of them so it kills more good bacteria in the GI system. And I got very anxious thinking I would contract it during or after the time frame I was taking it (since there were some reports of contracting it even after finishing the medication anytime, ranging from a few days, a few weeks, or hell, even several months after taking it). I didn't experience any GI SE's at all during the time frame of taking the drug and the only complaints I had were heartburn on the first day (which felt like a knife in my throat) and that's about all. Note that I didn't take any probiotics nor did I eat yogurt during the time I took clindamycin. which was strange. Also, on the day I was finished with the clindamycin, I went to another dentist and finally got the worst tooth done via a root canal. The dentist that did the worst tooth prescribed me amoxicillin to prevent any advancement of the abscess. As of now, I am finished with the amoxicillin and am taking some OTC probiotics to prevent the risk of C. Diff.Read More Read Less

HORRIFIC REFLUX!!!!!! Cured my skin infection, but I'm not sure I will take this drug again, as I kinda like the lining of my throat and esophagus. As a Nurse, I know that drugs can come with side effects, But this one is one that I will list in the old chart as "Do Not Take". Just Horrible.Ohh and Take a PROBIOTIC with Cleocin, it also kills the good bacteria in your gut, so here comes the diarrhea, and hydrate!! This one is kinda rough on the kidneys as well. Cleocin is a good drug for gram-positive bacteria when used correctly!! Best Wishes For Good HealthRead More Read Less
