I took this for complex partial seizure. After taking Tegretol (general) for about 2 years, I still have blank stare sometimes, so Doc. switched me to Tegretol XR(extended release). I am taking 200mg X3 per day. It is more effective in controlling the blank starring and gradually the zombie, lost of words and out of reality feeling were all gone by now (it's been more than 2 year now on extended r...

I was on this drug for 19 years. It was of no benefit to me at all. Even though the seizures wasn't so frequent, i still had very bad side effects which included depression, hypothyroidism, agression, irritability and hullucinations. I thought i was going mad. When i came off the drug and went on to another, i very much improved. The side effects have gone. My new drug is leaving me seizure free. ...

I've been on this treatment for awhile now, at this stage in my life i have gone through some side effects that really changed the way my life style. 1: my sex life really sucks, i lost my 6 yr relationship with my common law wife, 2: I did have that hair loss problem as well, I now look like my father did, 3: I have been feeling worthless, depressed, had plenty of bruises on my body that I never had before, When i urinate, it becomes a slow process in order to finish. I just hate myself. I only wish that there was a cure for these seizures that every time i'm about to have one i wish i was dead because of the pain. If you are on this treatment or starting it with this pill, PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE CONSULT WITH A DOCTOR WHO HAS REAL MEDICAL EXPERIENCE IN THIS FIELD. sorry about the caps, im just really tired of this treatment, and I would like to tell people what i have been going through on it. hit me up on aim, for support or even a ear, screen name=geechavo72 on aimRead More Read Less

I have been taking Tegretol XR for a few months, now. It hasn't been working for me at all. It caused my to have severe headaches, dizzy spells, lack of sleep, lack of concentraction, an increase in being confused and feeling like I'm slow, altered my hear, made me feel fusterated all of the time. I'm a college student and all this side effects made it hard for me to go my classes and to study my materials. I have been switch to Lamictal which has been doing much better for me and my lifestyle.

i was on thr regular tegretol pink pill untill my insurance would not cover. my nuerol suggested the tegretol xr which is covered 100%, but i am tired more and my libido is at 0%. i spk with my Gyn and there is really nothing i can do. i do have chronic bacterial vaginosis, i am not sure if there is a link. but i do wonder about this medication. i have been on tegretol since i was 13 and no relapses and on the tegretol xr for almost 2 years. these side effects have been going on for that time since the change of mediction types. but otherwise, i have not had any seizures since i was 13.Read More Read Less

Side effects I do have are dizziness and a bit of blurred vision, but not always on either on those. I think I'm more tired than I used to be. I haven't had any seizures since I began regularly taking this medicine and I've been on it for around 9 years now. (My seizures have been controlled and cause no problems in my life, but I may just have a calmer disorder to begin with.)

I have had remarkably fewer and milder seizures on this drug, but the lethargy, weakness and hairloss I cant live with. I have lost most of my hair on this drug.

I have found this to be more effective than other drugs commonly used for treating seizures. I had previously tried Dilantin, but had some adverse reactions. I have no such problems with the Tegretol, and find it to be easy to take on a regular basis. I have been using it now for 8 years and have had no seizures.

Has helped to keep drug levels even. Don't have the fluctuations that were seen with just the oral tablet

I started taking tegretol and the next day started to have double vision. I tried to wait it out, but it just got worse. I stopped and restarted the medicine to see if it would do better a second time around and it just put me to sleep. It ruined my birthday.
