This drug has been prescribed for me since the beginning of this year for several different procedures. I am now being titrated off of the drug. I have gained two inches of belly fat and am experincing some mood changes. Is this normal, and will it subside when I am off of this medication. My question is about side effects from this medication. Thanks

I am allergic to this medicine and the doctor insists this is the only one to help me. There must be others.

Used after cataract surgery. Caused severe itching and hives. Opthamologist doubted it was caused by this medication and prescribed again one month after surgery and itching and hives were getting better. As soon as I started the dosage the itching started right up. Stopped using immediately.

Prescribed for pre and post cataract surgery. Horrible aftertaste. Increases appetite. Concerned about side effects- delay healing and increase eye pressure.

I have severe blepharitis causing severe redness and pain in my eyes. I could barely open them despite the fact there was no exudate and one would think it's under control. It was literally ruining my life. The pain would worsen if I tried to read or watch television. Forget about the computer. Also became super light sensitive, even wearing sunglasses in my condo in the daytime--with my shades barely open! Relief from warm compresses, irrigations, lid scrubs and drops for dry eyes lasted only for minutes. Just one drop of prednisilone ophthalmic solution in each eye in the morning has been life changing. No side effects. If it drips into my nose I don't need to use Flonase, and that's just a plus on the wallet. YAAAY! I love this medication!Read More Read Less

using post cataract surgery--experience horrible taste in my mouth and "running down the back of my throat" Have effects as I have with oral Predisone--increased urination, hunger, heat intolerance--can not find out if I can have the same side effects with both

It was prescribed to me due to my eye infection from my eye contact use on my right eye. I had a course of putting these eye drops: 4drops a day per 2 days, 3 drops for 3rd and 4th day, 2 drops 5 and 6 day, and 1 drop per day for 7 and 8th day, then STOP. I managed to spit out the bad taste once it was going down my throat. The eye drops did clear up the redness and the bit of inflamed eye that I had from the infection. My concern with this is the side effects of a anxiety mood, like an un easy mood I was having, felt like if my head was spinning a little, this only happens when I don't spit. I stopped on the 6 day with just one drop, from this experience I'm not going to take it anymore. My eye got better on the 2nd and 3rd day, I was just following the doctor's order. I have been using the drops on an aggressive schedule for 3 weeks to get rid of inflammation so that I can have a corneal transplant. After experiencing symptoms, I decided to seek more info on side effects of the drops and see it here in other reviews. Although none of my symptoms are extreme, I have noticed abdominal weight gain, mood change, causing me to be less optimistic and patient, some dizziness and headaches. I will need to use the drops for several months and will take the advice to apply pressure to the corner of the eye and see it that helps. Read More Read Less

Question: Does this drug have cocaine or opiate remnants in it? The drain down the back of the throat makes me ask this question.

Retina detachment-used for 1st 6 wks in decreasing drops. Then told to continue for 2 more mos. Went back yesterday & Dr changed to other eye drops. Finally realized it had to be the drops causing a terrible, wheezing, consistent cough. Don't want to be around &annoy anyone. Anxious to start different drops today. Couldn't take anymore of this cough. Couldn't talk, laugh, sing, etc or it would begin a coughing fit. Didn't have rash or itching thank goodness. I have increased abdomen fat. & have been agitated for no reason. Glad to hear holding the inside (tear duct) will keep med out of system. I thought it was just recommended. The taste is awful-I use it after I eat breakfast & at bedtime & drink lots of water. It does make me nauseated.but, I felt I had to use it. The dr said if the new drops continue my cough and wheezing, he could give me a shot that lasts for 3 mos but it's very costly & he has to get authorization.?? He has a Retina Speciality Clinic & people come from all over. Fortunately I live in the same town. I hope my cough goes away.Read More Read Less

Detached retina surgery 2 years ago resulting in blindness. But the eye continues to be red and painful.Started this drug 3 days ago resulting in severe itching, hives, and wheezing. Finally settled down after repeated doses of anti-histamines. Dr.says there shouldn't be pain of the eyeball and the drug doesn't cause that kind of reaction. One dose and I'M itching again.

This was my 3rd eye surgery and 3rd time using this drug. The taste in my mouth is awful and using this drug. I too have gained inches in my waist. I have to take it 10 months this time and the other two times too. Cataracts and one eye a cornea transplant. Thankful I can see and I may not have to have the other eye a cornea transplant. The reason I need to take this longer is because of my cornea not right.

I have been using this medication for 3 months after my cornea surgery. The biggest problem I am having is I am extremely itching and am getting raised red bumps over my body (legs, chest, arms). Must take Benadryl 3-4 times a day. Very annoying

I had shunts implanted for glaucoma and have been on this medication 3 weeks. Now the sutures are coming to the surfac and I have bleeding. I'm told this is normal after surgery, but the eye only bleeds after I put in these drops. I'm terrified to put them in. Has anyone else had this reaction? I'm getting very depressed as I was recovering well, and now have this to deal with. Plus it has affected the vision. Very distressed about it all.

Prescribed after vitrectomy in one eye. After 3 weeks, I realized it is causing insomnia, raging, decreased appetite, and bone aches. I never would have realized the connection if a friend hadn't told me he had insomnia from prednisone eye drops too.

Use was for pre and post cataract surgery. It seemed to work fine. I would get an after taste in my throat after using. Eyes were blurry for a minute or two and there was white mucus in the corner of my eyes.

After being diagonosed with iritis(anterior uveitis), I've been on these drops for the better part of six months. My iritis is now considered chronic and recurrent. As to the drops, there are weeks I was using them once every hour, but every time I tapered I experienced ocular eye pain almost as a reminder that it was supposed to be time to use the drops. This pain continued for two weeks after stopping the drugs. I also have a slight drop to my eyelid though I hear that that will likely go away after six weeks, but I can't get off the drugs long enough for that to occur. Read More Read Less
