When I went to the doctor I was obese and my thyroid was underactive. The doctor put me on 88mcg of L-Thyroxine. It kept changing until I learned from a nurse to take it 1 to 2 hours before eating. My medication has been at 50 mcg for 2 years now and I have lost from almost 200 pounds to 135. I am very pleased with this medication and have no side effects from it.

I would rather be taking methamphamine. (Kidding) I have been on this med for years and I can fall asleep on a dime. Not exactly on a dime, but I have no energy whatsoever. There has to be something to restore some of my energy. I am on 88mcgs. HELLO!!!!!! My doctor gave me a B12 shot. I slept for two days.

I have been taking this pill for over 6 months now. I'm so exhausted and tired all the time and just want to stay in bed all the time. I started with 25 mg and then 50 and now up to 75 mg. I ask my doctor to put me back on to 50 mg. I noticed the difference and so has my family. I was told by my doctors assistint that if I quit and stop taking this medincine thatmy eye balls would pop out and it scared me. So I went to see my heart doctor and he told me that it has nothing to do with my heart when I did stop taken the medication. when I had stopped my blood pressure went up to 215 to 216 and that is why I thought something was wrong with my heart since I all ready had stents put in a few years before that. So I'am now back on the 50 mg and noticed the difference in being tired all the time and sore shoulders with pain and raspy throat like and chills at times. I felt better when I came off of it.Read More Read Less

I am 44 years old, I have been on 25 mcg dose for 5 months now. I had no symptoms at all, but an annual physical/bloodwork panel showed my thyroid # was way off. It's a new thing for me. Dr. says my thyroid hormone level isnow in "normal range", though it's been checked only once with a follow up blood test (after my first month of taking it). I have had some mild hair loss, seems to be leveling out though. Recently, I have a funky feeling in my throat, right in the middle. I am on no other meds, but do see a rheumatologist for quarterly blood work, as I have a "Rheumatic marker" that never goes away. She has ordered specific bloodwork for my appt. next month. My primary Dr. thinks I may have Hashimoto's Thyroid Syndrome. I think this is a combination of my age, and my rheumatic marker. I am greatful to be on no other medications, I believe some of the comments from others are due to medication interactions. Read More Read Less

I have been taking this drug for almost 5 years as the result of Thyroid Cancer. I did experience skin dryness so I beefed up my daily and nightly moisturizer and started taking Evening Primrose oil. I saw changes with my hair so I started taking Biotin 5000. I seem to experience a lot of energy in the mornings so I work out for 1 hour 5 times a week. I have lost a few pounds and gained muscle. I use coconut oil on my face and hair as a treatment. I have noticed only 2 side effects that I cannot assist and that is memory loss and I get irrated more often. I wake up and take the pill lay in bed for 25 more minutes and drink cofee not before 30 minutes after taking the pill. I think you must take charge of your health and not think that the medication is going to magically take care of everything I feel very fortunate that I have something that substitutes my thyroid. Still exhausted, still loosing my hair, I'm sorry to say I have not seen any changes, not even on the weight issue, where I was cautioned to let them know once I started to loose way too much (well, it's not happening). My blood test says my level is now normal, but I absolutely do not feel any better, or worse. Additionally, really hate that I have to wait to eat, I mean 1 whole hour? Sometimes I just forget to eat breakfast, and now that messes with my diabetes. Maybe something else is up there?Read More Read Less

Been on l-thryoxine 4 months-noticed I am not so profoundly tired-I do have more energy and I have been able to lose a few pounds I could never lose before. Been getting headaches for the past week or so, not sure if from drug-still constantly hot and very dry skin but my numbers are finally in normal range. Don't like that you have to wait an hour to eat!

This generic drug is the worst thing that is on the market. Do not use it does not work. Makes you gain weight and loss your hair. No matter what your Dr. says. Its your body & you know what it is doing. I have taken Levoxyl for 15 year and they want to give me this garbage. Telling me Lovoxyl is discontinued.

Drug provides increased energy for part of day BUT my hair on top of head and sides has become so thin over 10 months. Took drug few years ago for 4 months and weaned myself from it for same reason. Hair grew back so I know drug is cause. Physician disagrees, says it will stabalize.

I have 9 nodules on my thyroid and since I have been on the medicaion, they have decreased in size and I am not taking a lower dosage. My hair has been thinning though. So, if anyone else is seeing this side effect, I would be interested in knowing.

My tests showed low thyroid but had few common symptoms. I also have IBS D and take Prozac for that and that really helps. I have been on medication for 12 days and am very fatigued, irritable, sometimes depressed, and have constant body ache. Hard to say if this drug is helping though my doctor said it would take some time. Since my cholesterol shot up 150 points over the last two years I am hoping this drug lowers it. I have also noticed my voice is raspy all of the time. Have to say, I am extremely frustrated as I am generally in good health. could be my age too!Read More Read Less
