My experience with this drug has been phenomenal. I have seen it work in as little as two weeks. Of course with all new acne medications, it makes your skin worse before it gets better. I would say that after the first week, my skin started to really clear up quite nicely. I would recommend this product to anyone. As far as eating something with this medication, i have not felt any side effects of...

Was on this medication for a week until I got a VERY painful yeast infection followed by severe diaherria. I ended up going to the hospital where I needed IV for the dehydration and I ended up having a UTI as well. I've never had a yeast infection or UTI prior to taking this medication, so I'm assuming this was the cause. Stopped taking it. I would say my skin "glowed" a little more and felt much ...

Prescription from dermatologist is for 100mg 2 times a day (brand: Tris) for 2 weeks. First dose with food was unremarkable, 2nd dose taken with food caused nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, diarrhea. No fever so it’s not another illness or C diff. Thankfully it was on a weekend so I was unable to perform any personal tasks or leave the house, due to pain and of constant diarrhea. I’ve not taken additional doses, and will contact doctor. This is so severe!!! I’ve NEVER have taken an antibiotic and had this reaction. I will file a complaint with the FDA, but that is likely useless, being that their oversight is NON existent, they allow these dangerous drugs to be dispensed. I’ll try an alternative, garlic internally and something herbal topically, what should have done initially!Read More Read Less

I had taken doxy once before and it felt like something was burning a hole in my stomach, so when i got lyme, i asked if there was another choice. The doctor said no and gave me an acid blocker to take with it. Second day i took it, there was the burning. Because i was so sick with lyme and anaplasmosis, i tried to keep taking it. I wish i hadnt. I drank a full glass of water before, ate dinner, and took another full glass of water, but it was no use it was doing its damage. It constipated me so severally that i thought i was hopelessly impacted. Then i began to get severe sinus headaches, every night at the same time. I finished the course, but the stomach, bowel pain, and migraines continued. It has been over two months and it appears i have migraines and possibly gastritis from the drug. I wish the doctor suggested an iv, or another antibiotic, i dont know if i will recover completely from this horrible drug. Read More Read Less

Let me first start off by saying if I can give this medication zero stars I would. Before I started this medication I was perfectly normal, my anxiety was not severe at all. After starting this medication I had a panic attack at least 6 times a day. I took it for 10 days and finished the prescription. Now being off of it, I still don’t even feel like my self. This medication gave me the worst depersonalization/derealization. It has been 13 days since my last dose and I still don’t feel good, constantly having panic attacks still. I hope that this feeling goes away because I really do not feel like myself and regret ever starting this medication. Avoid this medication at all cost and if your doctor can give you an alternative antibiotic please do so. I want my life back ??Read More Read Less

Took this for a week for Chlamydia, had read a lot of reviews and became super nervous. First day I was a bit queasy and had a headache, but I was completely fine. I took directly after eating and noticed no gastrointestinal changes, even though I do have IBS. I'd say constipation was an issue, since it is such a chalky medicine. But a lot of these reviews are terrifying, but it works, and as long as you eat and drink a lot during and after taking it, you'll be just fine.

I have MRSA in my foot from an amputation of my toe. I was only on this drug for 9 days and had to be taken off of it for severe constipation that caused stomach pain and cramping to the point I could not sleep on either side, it started out with headaches and bouncing off of the walls literally, my balance was horrible, a little bit of nausea back and collarbone pain, extreme sleepiness but could not sleep, pains in my eyes, extreme bloating and swelling of the belly and I will never take this drug again and after being taken off of it for over a week? I am still experiencing a little bit of headache and bumping into things! I believe this drug should only be given in a last ditch effort to cure something. As people have been saying it is a very evil drug!Read More Read Less

Nightmare antibiotic from hell. Was prescribed a 2-month course of doxycycline and rifampin after receiving a cat scratch, due to some early symptoms of Bartonella henselae, to prevent endocarditis (history of heart valve disease). I have been useless for the 10 days I've taken it so far. Horrible, nonstop nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, and widespread diffuse severe abdominal pain that shoots straight into my mid-back. It feels as though I've swallowed drain cleaner for at least 10+ hours after every 12-hour dose. The pain from the side effects makes it mostly impossible to sleep, so now I'm also seriously sleep deprived. I cannot even imagine taking this for another 6+ weeks. It's horrific. Have tried numerous combinations of eat/don't eat, varying amounts of food from a bite or two to a full meal, different amounts of water (anywhere from 6 oz to 10 oz, 15 oz, even 24 oz water with a dose) timing of eating before or after dosing, you name it. No difference in side effects. It's tearing my body apart.Read More Read Less

I am currently taking this medication, day 4, do not fully rely on any information about any medication on the internet, we have very different bodies that react differently to medications, ALWAYS keep up with and ask your doctor. Fortunately, i was told that this is not an over the counter medication anymore. I was told to stop taking it if any pain or reaction occurs as well, so keep that in mind. Overall, i still didn’t see clear results, however, i have a good feeling about this.

I have a skin disorder Hailey-Hailey. This is a very good antibiotic and has been the most effective than any other antibiotic I've tried. What I've added for success and without side effects is a Probiotic with 20 billion live cells.

I was prescribed this because I'm getting over a bad cold and I have a TON of phlegm in my chest, on my 3rd pill and phlegm is definitely thinner and clear now, BUT The last two days I have had body pains. Headaches, nausea, BAD chest pain(already have gerd, acid reflux and no gallbladder) And I've cried about 5 times today and that is NOT like me.. super emotional. I don't know if I will continue with this or not.

Reading everyone’s reviews would make you run for the hills but again you can’t believe everything people say. Some people exaggerate and have other underline mental or physical issues that cause the reactions they “Claim to have”. I took the med and I have been completely fine. Please do your own research before listening to others. That is all.

was on the doxy for a few months then switched to other antibiotics as per instructions from my doctor, then switched back due to antibiotic resistance. I can’t remember if i noticed it the first time, but i definitely noticed it after going back on; weight gain. NOT HAPPY!!! I don’t know if it’s just me experiencing this but i’ve only been back on it for 4 days, and although it has caused a loss of appetite i’m noticing weight gain. My diet has been fairly good over the past few days so the doxy is the only thing i can pin it down to. If you struggle with weight, avoid doxycyline!!! On a side note, it did improve my skin appearance drastically. So consider what you value more.Read More Read Less

I took extra measures to ensure that the pill worked effectively as directed by my dermatologist, such as eating a meal with no dairy or calcium and drinking a full glass of water to prevent acid reflux. I did all this and about an hour after taking the prescription I started vomiting and having diarrhea. I also later had to go to the ER because of chest tightness. I'm still having issues with my bowels and acid reflux. Overall, I'm still feeling terrible, but better than I was. I will definitely never take this antibiotic again.Read More Read Less

I was taking this for a possible prostate bacterial infection. Though the stomach pain has been tolerable, I have had severe insomnia. I seem to be hot and sweating at night and somewhat congested. I am on day 6 and I have not slept more than 5 hours on any day. Cannot get to sleep at all!

It worked as described. Lowered infection symptoms. HOWEVER, it caused very intense anxiety, depression, and thoughts of death that just NOW 10 days after taking have somewhat cleared up. I am not depressed and have never had these symptoms before taking. AVOID the tetracycline family if possible. Please watch your children while on this drug, it could save their lives.
