Took 10 days of 500mg tablets for severe sinus infection (horrible swelling of my face around brow bones, under eyes), my worst infection of my sinus area in a very long time. I get an average of 2 sinus infections a year, due to malformation of the sinus glands. I have taken Levaquin before and never had a problem, so when I began to get these wierd side effects I looked for causes all over ...

I began taking Levvaquin for a sinus infection and bronchitis. On the first night I couldn’t sleep and was all itchy. I felt very anxious and "uneasy". The next day, about 2 hours after after taking my second dose of levaquin, I almost passed out. I had the whole ringing in my ears and everything went black like I was going to faint. I barely made it to a chair to sit down. I felt very disoriented and hazy…almost in a fog. I became very dizzy and lightheaded. I feel achy all over and my heart started palpitating. It felt like it was going to beat out of my chest! My blood pressure, which is usually around 110/70 was 130/110. I still ache all over, have pain in my hips, and feel disoriented at times.Read More Read Less

It was effective, but the nausea was unbearable! I was constantly gagging and my stomach felt like it was on fire! I had to call and get my prescription changed immediately.. :( Unfortunately, this mediaction was a nightmare to take.

Was prescribed this antibiotic for chronic epididymitis. About halfway into my 20-day dose, I began experiencing extreme soreness and stiffness in my ankles to where I could barely stand up in the morning and walk down stairs. It also affected my elbows, wrists, and knees. Very painful! It has completely prevented me from exercising and has made some normal activities (i.e. walking, driving) almost unbearable. It's been over six weeks since I stopped taking the drug and the pain still lingers. STAY AWAY from this drug!!!!!!!!!!!!Read More Read Less

after taking this med for 5 days, I felt I couldnt breathe. I would get breathless walking up two stairs. My face had a grey palour from not getting enough oxygen. My joints started to hurt and were painful for one year after stopping the Levaquin. My doctors hadnt realized the medication was causing my problems and so I was checked for emphysema, then tests on my heart. When they proved negative, my doctor then told me I was having a severe reaction to the Levaquin and to never take it again. Because I am basically very healthy with no allergies to meds, I was shocked to realize that a drug could cause such horrific effects as I described. I for one think this med should be removed from the shelves as there are many people who have similar experiences to mine.Read More Read Less

Did not begin to clear bronchitis until 7 days into treatment. expensive if you don't have insurance; a non-name brand would probably do just as well.

This is a very good drug. It does cause diarrhea when I have to take it, but it is about the only one that works.
