I really like femcon, it has worked out really well for me! I have had less nausea, headaches & my period are shorter & lighter! If you do miss 1 pill you will start bleeding, so it reminds you very much if you forget to take them the right way.

I'm only on my 3rd month of this birth control pill, but I've had too many of the side effects already to continue to use it. During the first 2 packs, I had 2 UTIs and 2 yeast infections. Also, my period starts a full week before my off week. My severe cramping continued throughout the pill. All in all, this medication was supposed to relieve my painful and irregular periods, but instead, it made them 10x worse. I don't recommend this medication.

I was on Ovcon 35 and then switched to Femcon when it came out on the market at least seven years ago and I am very pleased with the drug. If I miss a pill I have spotting for a day but nothing serious. I absolutely love this drug and would not take anything else.

When I first started thinking about birth control to not only prevent pregnancy but to regulate my periods as well, I chose this because it's chewable and I have a tough time swallowing pills. I have just started this pill a little over three months ago and it has been hell.. I've had breakthrough bleeding for 10 days and then I would get a heavy flow like my actual period. I am always nauseous after taking it. On the plus side, I'm not pregnant because I never have the chance to actually have sex because of the breakthrough bleeding and my periods. I experience mood swings all the time, as my poor boyfriend knows. Also, I experience cramps frequently. However, I am still giving it more time hoping my body will adjust and find a routine. I have been on 6 different birth control pills. For each one, I have given it time to work but I always had breakthrough bleeding and terrible cramping. Femcon Fe has been a tremendous boost to many aspects of my life. I have no breakthrough bleeding, no pain, and my sex drive has anything but decreased (the reviews show that this is a common side effect). It has helped me out in so many ways. The absolute only problem i have been having may not even be related to the pill, but my appetite has seemed to increased along with minor bloating.Read More Read Less

I recently switched form Estrostep FE to Femcon and it has been the worst experience EVER! I've only been taking it for about a week and I have been extremely exhausted--can't seem to get enough sleep, very nauseous (throwing up and achy like I have the flu), and just overall feel AWFUL. I know you are supposed to give it a few months so your body can adjust, but I don't think that is even possible. Just the thought of taking this pill at night before bedtime makes me sick to my stomach. I've also had headaches, constipation, and cramping muscles in my lower back...not to mention this medicine is costing me $29.00 a month with insurance (my most expensive prescription in years) when my old birth control was only $8.00. I already have anxiety/PMS issues and from the looks of other people's reviews Femcon just worsens it, which is the last thing I need. I just do not see this birth control working out for me at all and the fact that it is so expensive makes it not worth it. If you plan on taking this birth control then you might want to re-think your other options before you "chew" this nasty pill. Read More Read Less

I have been on this BC for almost 2 years now and finally realize that many of my syptoms may be related to this pill. I have horrible mood swings, upset stomach, headaches, cramps/discomfort and a decreased sex drive. While Femcon has been a successful BC with its effectiveness I am considering ending my use because I feel like it is making me miserable with all of the side effects.

I started taking Ovcon 35 and then I think it just switched over to Femcon. I've taken this for a little over 4 years and love it. The first month I took it, I got a little nauseous, but other than that, no side effects.

I have been on Femcon for almost 3 months now and I'm not sure if this is the pill for me. First, the pill is expensive. After taking it for the first month, my cycle was no different. I still had a full 7 day period and extreme cramps. I waited it out however, because my doctor said I needed to give it at least 4 months in my system. My second period was much better! No cramps or pain at all, but I still had a 5-7 day period. I am only 3rd cycle now, since starting the pill, and so far, no cramps. For anyone who has major cramps, you know that to not have cramps at all is a HUGE relief. The downside to this pill though, is that for the past month, I have had intense migraine headaches EVERY SINGLE DAY. I wake up with a lingering headache that stays with me all day and go to bed, still having a migraine. Over the past couple of weeks, I also noticed that now I have tightness in the back of my neck which causes the migraines to feel even worse. My sleep patterns have gotten a lot worse with these migraines. The final downside is, my breasts have been painfully sore. Sometimes, it feels like there are tight lumps at the top. For the past few days, I've noticed the tightness has started to ease up, so I'm not sure if now my body is just starting to adjust to the pill or what. But more than anything, I cannot handle the migraine headaches. I would rather cramp for 3-4 days than have a migraine for 30 days each month. I plan to stay on the pill for the full 4 months, as suggested, but if side effects do not change, I will not allow my doctor to keep me on this pill (as some of you have said that your doctors will not take you off or let you switch). My health is very important to me and some things just aren't worth it.Read More Read Less

I'm a 49 year old in beginning stages of perimenopause. Just given to help with heavy periods/clotting. Dr. told will help with terrible PMS I am experiencing also. Has anyone found this pill to be helpful for the above symptoms? Also, was there weight gain associated with it. Have not started the packet yet.

Prescribed for ovarian cysts. Periods were heavy and clotty one month and almost non-existant the next. Would have a period while taking the active pills. Had irregular heartbeats. Found out BCP's deplete magnesium in the body. Also had headaches, very tender breasts. Discontinued use, rather have cysts.

I have been on Femcon for 2 years and I am trying to switch, but my doctor does not believe my symptoms are caused by this medicine. Moodiness, fatigue, very bad migraines, NO sex drive are the ones I noticed right away. After reading some other reviews, I realize my problems wearing contacts and swollen hands/feet might be related too. I want to stop taking it, the only good thing is that my periods are very light and pain-free. But I am stuck with it since my doctor wouldn't prescribe a different medicine, I never had problems until switching to Femcon. The only other option he gave me is Mirena but my insurance won't cover it.Read More Read Less

I took Femcon FE for one year. During the first three months I had "breakthrough bleeding". For me this meant having a 2 week long period. The doctor told me if it continued after 3 months she would switch my pill. It stopped after the three months and I started having a really light, short period (about 4 days). I didn't have any major side effects at all. No cramps, no loss in sex drive, no PMS etc. However, just recently, after taking the pill for over a year now, the breakthrough bleeding started again. I'm really disappointed because I loved this pill! I have to switch because I honestly can't deal with 2 week long periods.Read More Read Less

Coming up on month 3 and I've pretty much been bleeding or spotting all but 2 days. My breasts are swollen and painful. I've had a red dry itchy patch on my face for 1 month. I'm trying to wait it out. I had previously been on Yasmin for 3 years and it worked well...

I have been on this BC for over a 1.5yrs now. I got on this right after I had my son. I did have the Implanion, but it gave me a constant period so I had that removed. I went on this next. I hate this pill. I take it at the same time every night & I don't miss pills. Every month starting with the second week I have a light period that can last 3-5 days and then after I finish the last pill the very next day I start a full period that lasts for 5 days or longer. So I am basically having a period for 2 weeks out of the month. I have went to my OBG several times & have been told that he didn't think this pill was the issue. IT IS!!!!! I am coming up on my annual & I am changing to something else. I am so tired of my VERY low sex drive, mood swings, & frequent periods. I was so pleased to see these other posts & to know that I wasn't alone....that it was this crazy pill.Read More Read Less
