I have been unable to take any of the osteoporosus drugs for the past several years. Reclast is working for me both as an easier application, once a year, and better health. One thing I have noticed is that my fingernails no longer break and are becoming hard. The same with my toenails. I took Reclast 2 months ago and so far so good. My veins are very tiny and hard to find so I take the IV in...

I am 44 went through Chemo at 32 needed to take Anastrazole which put me into Osteopenia now full blown Osteoporosis in my hip. My specialist recommended Reclast and after reading all the reviews I was freaked out and called her back we talked. What worked for me! I started Claritin 2 days before Tylenol the morning before drank lots of water and focused my foods on nothing processed (probably didn’t make a difference) we did a liter of fluid with it and dropped the medication in over an hour. My side effects consisted of night one- Fever/chills I rested at home that day. Night two- body aches. I did work that day Day 3 had nausea and bad #2. And boom just like that I felt fine. None of it was truly “severe” I felt tired and blah. But everything was very manageable for me. I wanted to share my experience so it wasn’t “all bad” hope this helps someone! Good luck! I look forward to my DEXA scan next year!Read More Read Less

After reading through many reviews, I almost decided to not receive the Reclast Infusion treatment. I talked to my Endocrinologist and my Internist and they both reviewed my medical history and highly recommended to have the Infusion. I found a few positive reviews that mentioned preparing in advance by hydrating, taking Claritin and Tylenol. My Doctor, nor the hospital told me any of this. I found a Physician that posted a review and followed exactly what she had done prior to her Infusion. I am SO happy to say it worked perfectly! I started by making sure I had taken my Calcium and Vit D every day for two weeks, then 2 days before I drank 64 ounces of water each day. I also took Claritin the day before my appointment, the day off and 2 days after my appointment. The morning of, I drank 16 ounces of water and took 2 Tylenol. I continued the Tylenol every 6 hours for 2 full days. I had no side effects at all! I was so thankful for those people who posted that a similar routine had helped them also. Do your homework and be prepared is my advice. I am hoping my bone density improves at my next scan! Read More Read Less

I had my first infusion on the 8/12 and on 8/13 I was in the ICU. My blood pressure dropped! I had a fever, vomiting headache. I then started with diarrhea, vomiting and nausea. I was dizzy and I could hardly stay awake. This was with-in hours of taking this medication Please if you’re thinking about this read all the reviews. I am still sick. I wish I would have researched before I was given this medicine. I hope your day is beautiful.

I received Reclast July 28, 2023 at 11:00 am took Tylenol drank plenty of water before and after. Before bed I started feeling like someone trying to break every single bone in my body. I started shivering and I shivered for over 5 hours straight through the night. I used to walk 20-25k steps a day, now I can barely hit 4k. It's now August 30th. My arteries in my neck are killing me, my right side of my jaw hurts. I feel like someone burned my right foot. My right hip is in angony, it feels like my spine is being hit repeatedly and my ribs are being hit repeatedly by a baseball bat. My bpm went from resting of 52-56 to 45. My bpm was in the 40's while walking, my heart started skipping and thumping. I immediately reported to Rheumo and Primary. They put me on 14 day heart monitor. Saw Cardiologist. The pain is unbearable. I hope that this doesn't kill me, but I just turned 60 and in May I kayaked, climbed a mountain in Ireland, went hiking up mountains in Colorado & Arizona in June and now, I truly feel like I am dying. Reclast is more than poison, its feeling like a death sentence. Read More Read Less

I had to give a rating; however, It's still too early for me to give an assessment regarding this medication, but I will say this. Some years ago, I was advised that my bone density was low. Last year, in October of 2022, I fell and fractured my wrist which led to testing and osteoporosis diagnosis. On Tuesday I had reclast infusion. I was advised to take Tylenol, and drink plenty of water before and after procedure. That night, I was wiped out, but in no pain. The next afternoon, I started experiencing pain in my right knee when I walked. or bent my knee. When standing, I'm fine if I don't flex my leg at all. No pain while sitting. We'll see what happens. I had this infusion on Thursday was nit well prepared about side effects. The next morning I woke up with a fever of 102.3 severe headache, excruciating bone pain down my back into my hip and couldn’t sit up or barely walk shortness of breathe and nauseous. I went to the emergency room was give steroids morphine anti nausea medicine and fluids. Two days later I feel better but still don’t know long term effects. Why isn’t there a class action suit against this drug?

First Reclast infusion 10 days ago. Did not do my homework as I should have and was given no instructions to drink water prior to or take Tylenol after.Ten hours after, chills, body aches, chest pain, bone pain, terrible eye pain, headache. Middle of third day symptoms subsided except unrelenting headache which has gotten progressively worse to migraine degree (without aura) everyday for 10 days now. Keeping ice on head all day praying for relief. Never again for me.

I was talked into receiving this drug November 2022. Apparently I was among the "low percentage of people" to have a negative reaction. It started out as flu like symptoms then advanced to full on body pain. It felt like my bones were braking including my jaw. Today, 6 months later it still feels like someone pushed and excelerator button on my arthritis. My life has been negatively impacted. The APRN has washed his hands of me. Where is the class action suit on this drug?????

I was given no information about preparation for this drug though I had asked about side effects. I started a 102-103 degree fever for 2.5 days and still have a low grade fever 9 days later. 5 days after my wrists were hurt and swollen. The next day my entire hands and one foot was the same. I had to go have my rings cut off today because of the pain and swelling. I think it’s getting better but I really think my health care providers could have prepared me to know to drink a lot prior to the infusion. I don’t know if it helped or not yet.Read More Read Less

I was scheduled to have my Reclast infusion on Tuesday of this week. After having read the reviews I was concerned how my body might respond to the infusion. I began to drink more water and sports drinks on Sunday to ensure I was well hydrated. I also began to take Claritin on Sunday. On Tuesday I continued to hydrate and took Claritin. I also took an aspirin prior to my infusion. It is Thursday and I stopped the aspirin on Wednesday A.M. I plan to continue to hydrate and take the Claritin. So far I have not experienced any issues….Read More Read Less

RECLAST INFUSION WAS GOOD. ONLY ONE DAY OF ACHES!!! I wanted to write this to contradict all the naysayers of the Reclast Infusion. I had my first Reclast two days ago. I am 65 years old, and cannot take the oral meds because of acid reflux. I read a lot of reviews before agreeing to the infusion, and I was petrified going in because of the negative reviews. I am happy to report that the process was seamless. I felt perfect for the remainder of the day after the infusion. The following day (yesterday), my lower back, hips, and upper legs hurt. I also had a headache. Easily managed with continued Tylenol, but I did sleep much of the day. Today, two days after procedure, I am normal. After reading a lot of reviews, I did the following to prepare: I took a Claritin the day before my procedure, the day of, and will continue for three days after. (The nurse didn’t know if Claritin would do any good, but some reviews stated it would, so I wanted to help myself in any way possible.). I took Tylenol starting the day before, and am still continuing, probably through the third day after. I took 8 hr release for arthritis-650 mg. Most importantly, I drank LOTS OF WATER: 96 ounces the day before, and 140 ounces the day of. I had 94 ounces of water in my system the day of the infusion before I went in at 1:15. My endocrinologist ordered lab work before to make certain my Calcium and Vitamin D levels were normal. I read that this is important. My actual infusion took about an hour: 15 min of the Reclast and then 30 min of a saline drip. I think the saline and drinking lots of water is very important in managing symptoms. I have no idea if the Reclast was effective, and I won’t know until my next bone scan, but PLEASE DON’T ASSUME YOU WILL NEGATIVELY REACT. Schedule your infusion so you do have a few days after with nothing planned, as I believe most people have a slight reaction, but it was one day for me. I HOPE THIS EASES THE MINDS OF THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE READ ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS, AND ARE HESITANT TO GO FORWARD WITH RECLAST.Read More Read Less

My sister received this last week and is in agony from swelling and flu like symptoms - acute. The reaction is extreme. Be very careful with this medicine - I’d you react, the consequences are real and longer term than other options. We are holding our breath that the side effects will subside, and that her vision will be ok.

My 2nd Reclast infusion was uneventful, unlike my first infusion (one year prior) when I experienced a low fever and mild - moderate facial rash / hives 24 hours following the treatment process. According to my rheumatologist, flu like side effects are more common after a first infusion and less likely (or severe) during subsequent treatments. Additionally, I was instructed to consume 48 ounces of water (or another liquid) the day prior, 16 ounces a few hours before the treatment, and another 16 ounces following the infusion. I am a mid-aged woman, 5ft 4, 105 lbs, and in good health (other than my osteoarthritis condition). Per my physician, I showed improvement (and no additional bone loss) following my first Reclast infusion this past year. She also indicated that we will need to discuss another treatment option after my receipt of a 3rd Reclast infusion. Apparently, there is a limited period of time in which patients can safely receive this specific treatment. I highly encourage individuals reviewing online consumer comments regarding Reclast, potential side effects, and other related issues / concerns to discuss their own medical history and clinical needs with their treating physician rather than assuming the infusion experience(s) of others! I am a 60 year old very active female! 12-24 hours after reclast infusion I had a severe systemic adverse reaction including vomiting, painful joints and muscles, dizziness and a non infectious biofilm/ granuloma formed on my left lower peri orbital region in my soft tissue under my eye! 4 months later I am still being treated for the biofilm/ granuloma praying I’m not scarred for life! Do NOT take this medication!
