This medication was perscribed to me for cronic diarrea, I have a total coloctomy and a J pouch. It worked wonderfully. BUT I did develope severe liver problems after 2-3 years of use. my liver count was 750 when normal is well below 100. So since no other medication worked as well we have now had to go to plain codiene, I have yet to find if it is working well or not since I have just started this new method. The fear of liver damage is real and for those who have to take it long term, please check your liver yearly. Also check for celiux sprue (alergic to gluten and or wheat) I lost my colon to it and I wouldn't be going through what I am now if we had found that in the first place.
