This was prescribed for off-label use to help with night sweats. It has been an answered prayer for me. Night sweats have stopped. I can sleep through the night. Label said take at 5pm but I was very groggy the next day. So, I take it at 3pm & this works for me. Previously, night sweats made it impossible to sleep for any length of time -- waking up every 1-2 hours.

I've been taking Horizant for RLS for 6 months. I had been on Requip XL for 2-3 years but it no longer worked due to augmentation. The transition was hideous; my doctor prescribed an opioid to help but it was extremely constipating. I was doing well until two months ago when RLS worsened. My doc suggested doubling the dose of Horizant and adding the smallest dose of Mirapex. Within 2-3 weeks I was getting augmentation from the Mirapex so I stopped that but continued the double dose of Horizant. I have now nearly run out and am taking only the single dose and supplementing with OTC GABA from the nutrition store as needed, which is bedtime and whenever I wake up (2-3 times per night). The pharmacy tells me the availability date has been pushed back a month to July 1, 2013.Read More Read Less

What a wonder drug for me! RLS made getting an uninterrupted night's sleep rare. I try to take it between 5 and 6pm and have set the alarm on my phone since I can't seem to remember to take it otherwise. If I take it too late I am too dizzy and uncoordinated in the morning to work safely so I don't take it after 7pm and really miss it on those nights. Right now my pharmacy is having trouble getting it as there is some hold up in production at Glaxo-Smith-Kline. I am really going to be upset if I can't get it anymore.....Read More Read Less

This was prescribed to treat restless leg syndrom. The requirement was to take at 5:00 PM, which for anyone with a normal schedule is difficult. I was fine as long as a took it be 7:00. Otherwise, it created hypernis and futher difficlties in falling a sleep. I quit taking because it was difficult to follow the time requirement.

I was prescribed this drug for restless legs and have been taking it for over 1 year. For months, there was grogginess in the mornings, but that has subsided. Truly, this has been a wonder drug for me...the RLS was so bad that I dreaded the nights...now there is no thrashing and that horrible crawling, painful feeling in my legs. I am grateful for this medication even though it's expensive.

Has caused extreme movement in my legs to the point that I have not slept since I have taken the drug. Has increased my RLS instead of helped it. Have stopped taking it.

Taking for RLS about a month. Mixed results, as some nights it works great; others I'm pacing the floor again. I go back for my check up in the morning, and I'm anxious to go over this inconsistency in results. When it works, it's awesome - SO nice to be able to sleep for more than an hour or so at a time before being forced out of bed to pace!

Prescribed for restless legs, and it is working (so far) very well! 2 weeks into it, so it's a little early yet, but the results so far are very encouraging. I'm actually able to go to sleep and stay asleep through the night. Major change from pacing the floor for hours at night. Little grogginess, some dizziness in the morning, but that beats the heck out of only getting 1-2 hours of sleep at a time, with nightly totals of 3.5 to 6 every night!

Ended in ER with allergic rash over body that felt like prickly heat. Did not help with jerking motion of upper body during night. Horrible experience.

Horizant was prescribed for me after Ambien CR no longer kept me asleep. In the past I'd also tried Ambien, Rozerem, and Trazadone.

The Directions for this say to take at about 5pm, I take it about 2 hours before I want to go to bed (since that is how long until it make me sleepy). If I take it at bedtime I will either oversleep or be very groggy in the morning.

I've slept better. However, my mental clarity has been Afected in the mornings. Don't think as clearly as normal. Kinda a druggy afterefect. Lasts into the late mornings. My wife has noticed my attitude has changed a bit my driving is different. I'm looking for another avenue to help me slep.

The RLS restless legs that I had was unbearable...I dreaded each evening as it would begin and be relentless. Horizant began to work almost immediately..I am even sleeping better and uncontrollable movements are practically nonexistent. Yes, I was groggy the first week but have acclimated to that. Honestly, this has been like a miracle for me.

Has effectively stopped uncontrollable movements caused by extreme Restless Legs Syndrome. Before using Horizant, RLS seizures were extreme throughout entire body. Side effects of dizziness, etc. disappeared after a couple of days. I can now sleep, which the RLS previously prevented.
