Alyacen has been great. I was switched after Necon was no longer available and have had the same great results. I've never experienced any of the side affects associated with some birth controls and I have been on it for 6 years.

TERRIBLE! Would comment on its effectiveness but I had to stop after ONE WEEK. I was having allergic reactions to the patch so my Dr switched me to Alyacen. Much like several other reviewers the depression, anxiety, and mood swings were just too much for me. I wouldn't wish those feelings and thoughts I was having on my worst enemy. It's taken about three weeks for me to chill and be able to mak...

It took 3 tries on this pill for me to figure out when it worked for me. I have pmdd and my periods last 7-10 heavy for about 5 days w/o birth control. Taking it right before bed works best for me. when I tried morning or lunch it made bloated and nauseous. I have noticed though that I forget 1 active pill by just 4 hours I start spotting within a couple days amd it lasts a couple more days which sucks.

I was only 2 weeks into this treatment when I got a pulmonary embolism. One of the rare and serious/fatal side effects. It wasn't worth the risk.

This is the first pill that I have used. I decided to go on birth control due to extremely heavy periods and awful cramps. It took 3 months before it started to work well, but now my periods are so light and my cramps only last a day! I have nothing else to compare this to, but it seems to work well for me.

I've had a similar experience to the other users, but have switched by the pharmacy from Cyclafem to this. I have been an emotional wreck, bloated, and am getting acne on strange parts of my body, such as my neck. My poor boyfriend has had to console me as I am frequently crying or angry. Stay far away from this!

I am on my fourth pack of pills right now. The first two months were not that good, but now my body has adjusted I think. The first two months I was extremely moody and irritable. I am surprised my boyfriend did not break up with me. I was also crying over everything. By the third month, I was less irritable and now I don't cry any more than normal. I definitely have an increase in appetite, but nothing crazy and I have not gained any weight. Although, my breasts are a little perkier. Overall, at first it was rough but now I feel normal. Would recommend this pill if you don't mind the first couple months being really annoying. Read More Read Less

I've been very happy with Alyacen. I haven't noticed any effects on my emotions and it makes my periods super light, predictable, and easy. I had heard horror stories from others on "the pill", but this works great for me!

I had taken Necon for 8 years, and randomly my pharmacy was no longer carrying it. They switched me to Alyacen, and at first there were no differences. After a while, I was getting odd red spots all over my face and nothing was helping them. After a month of taking it, I started becoming more anxious and depressed. Now that I have taken it for 4 months, my anxiety, depression, and anger are so overwhelming that I cannot function. Daily I have mental breakdowns and constantly cry for no purpose. I have not been myself and have constantly been wondering what is wrong with me and what I could do to help myself but I felt completely lost. I wake up every morning drenched in sweat. DO NOT take this pill. The side effects are so terrible that it has taken my normal, happy life and turned it into an emotional rollercoaster, filled with anxiety and worry. Read More Read Less

I don't usually take birth control but due to a cyst on my ovaries I had no choice but take the birth control pill so the cyst would shrink. Well I got to tell you that instead of my cyst shrinking I ended up in the emergency room two month after with blood clots. Now I have been off the pill for three months and I'm still gaining weight, my breasts are tender and my back and face broke out. I am so upset. I have gained about 24 pounds in about two months and now I have a serious health condition. Please don't ever take this pill. I have taken other birth control when I was younger and I never had something like this happen to me. Read More Read Less

I put on this birth control after having an adverse reaction to Yaz. At first it was fine and my period was very light. I started to notice I was more snappish but considered it just PMS. Then I would have my "sad" days and just cry at the drop of a hat. I've always been a happy person but this pill made me think I needed to see a shrink b/c of the depression, anxiety, and anger it caused. I still didn't think it was the pill until I've read other reviews and I'm so glad I did. I will be stopping this pill so I can go back to normal!Read More Read Less

This drug is simply awful. In just 3 weeks, I have gained weight, feel extremely anxious, very emotional to the point of nervous breakdowns, my period became unpredictable and heavy, my belly is bloated, and my face broke out in strange red spots. I feel very bad and I just don't want anyone else to feel like this. Do not risk it; choose another pill!!!!

this is my second week taking Alyacen, I switched pharmacies and this is what was filled instead of necon. I have had horrible bloating, headache, and it makes my stomach hurt, I think I am also holding water because my weight is saying I have gained in the last week. I gave it over a week and the symptoms have not lessened- I am switching back to necon and changing pharmacies if I need to.

I started taking this drug to help reduce the heavy periods from UF and in three days I started noticing swollen ankles ( blood clotting). I stopped uising and my ankles are back to the normal size, and no more clotting. I got it from a Military Treatment Facility, should have known I was not going to get one that was more suitable for my age, condition, and considered a "combination" pill, e.g something used to treat UF's and BC.

I needed to go on birth control to regulate my period, and my doctor prescribed this. I was concerned about the possible side affects, but had no problems. If anything, my skin improved and my boobs grew a little. I saw a previous post about increased anxiety, and would like to add that I suffer from anxiety (not medicated) and saw no difference in my daily anxieties.

My pharmacy switched me to this because Necon 1/35 was back ordered. I took Necon for 6 years...NO problems! 3 Weeks into Alyacen and I feel so anxious I can hardly function. So bad I thought I was having a nervous breakdown! My face has also broken out and I have been very bloated. Thank god I finally found another pharmacy that carries my necon. Don't take this one ladies.
