I am a young, healthy and fit female that has had ongoing troubles with digestion and bowel movements. I am aware I have a lactose intolerance and avoid dairy. I was originally diagnosed with IBS, then Bowel Obstruction, then Chronic Constipation, and currently is Slow Colon Transit which I believed isn't the correct nor final diagnosis. I was prescribed Prucalopride 1mg per day for the extreme bloating, cramps, struggle to lose weight and lack of regular movements. The first day I took it, I was running to the bathroom, instant effect and went to the bathroom about 5 times that day. It seemed to work for the first couple weeks with the effects of cramps, some bloating and extreme hunger increase and hunger pains. (Also very expensive medication to buy each month) and was not happy with this temporary band aid. After a couple months I noticed there were more infrequencies with the combination of struggling to go and going way too much. I then started taking the medication once every second or third day. However even once every 4 days is the extreme of water and very loose bowel movements to struggling to and consistency. Unsure what to do next as doctors seem to give a medication a move on. Bowel motion first thing after taking night before ...usually takes at least five toilet trips on same morning but definitely works well

Chronic constipation not resolved with laxatives. With one dose only stomach cleared and I felt better. Slight discomfort in abdomen

I can say this medication definitely helps with constipation. From what I've read, patients can develop diarrhea within the first 3 days and it can go on for up to 4 weeks. I'm definitely in that camp. It has been dehydrating, so I've been trying to up my water intake along with fiber and electrolytes. It wasn't mine or my doctor's first choice of medication but it was covered by insurance with prior auth. Based on the other reports I'd seen on side effects, I've chosen to split my pills in half and take 1.5mg in the morning before 10 am. Some stool has been normal and others have been quite loose. It's been an improvement over the chronic bloating and constipation that has kept me from sleeping for months. The urge to go seems to subside by 2-3 pm and the stomach gurgling has eased after 3-4 days. I'm hoping to continue to see improvement in the side effects as my body adjusts.Read More Read Less

This drug causes severe side effects ..I took it at night but couldn't sleep whole night due to abdominal pain , mood change and dizziness cause by this tablet..Next day it cause diarrhea and weakness..

Gave me deadly Diarrhea with horrible dehydration. 1 of the most horrible laxatives I have ever taken. Doctors tell you this is not a laxative, but they lie.
