Used Chateal for 6 months. Became extremely depressed and moody. Crying a lot. Angry and screaming a lot. Would just stare off into space feeling broken hearted sometimes. Not enjoying things like I used to. Stopped taking it and felt like myself again within days. The depression and the fights almost broke up my boyfriend and I!!! When will there be birth control options for men!!?!?!?!??...

So, I was kinda iffy about taking birth control to begin with, but Planned Parenthood put me on this brand and within a month I was a different person. I was pissed off all the time, crying for no reason (literally no reason) and I didn't really have bad acne before, but a month and a half in my acne got really bad. there was one point on this pill where i was crying so hard and laughing at myself...

I have been taking chateal for about 3 months now; this has been making me very emotional, I cry over nothing, I am very short tempered, Basically I am a basket case, I deal with a headache almost every day, I have no sex drive, I am going to planned parent hood ASAP this is making my relationship fall apart. iv been with my boyfriend for almost 7 years and we fight constantly. Any other suggestions to any other forms of birthcontrol would be helpful. I Never want to take this pill again

Started chateal very beginning of Jan 2015 from Planned Parenthood... Have taken trivora for years prior to this switch bc this is all PP had... I have yet to have my period and I take the pill the same time every day like clock work. It's not terrible to not have a period, but seems odd because I've always had my period although very light, not having one 4 months in row is not right. Help!

I have been on Chateal for about 5 months. The cons outweigh the pros by a tremendous amount. Pros: shorter periods, no pregnancies, breast size slightly increased. Cons: acne, cramping in between periods, mood swings. I didn't really notice much of a weight change like other users have experienced. My breasts grew slightly. My periods went from being 5-7 heavy days to about 3 light days. Helped with my horrible period cramps. However, I experienced cramping in between periods. I hardly ever had PMS. On this medication I turned into a complete emotional train wreck during my first day of my period. I also went from having mostly clear skin to horrible chest breakouts. As a birth control, it worked well with no spotting in between even if I took it a few hours late. However, the side effects are making me get off of this medication. Read More Read Less

After the first day noticed a change: within 4hrs of taking it would get serve stomach cramps for about 5hrs and 8hrs after taking get super sleepy so that I couldn't even keep my eyes open. Then on the third day of taking it I starting spotting daily for about 10hrs and it progressively got worse so that by the third week I was full on (lightly) bleeding (all day and night). Serve cramp, spotting/bleeding constantly, mood swings, spotty skin, headaches, tiredness...I rather have a unwanted pregnancy than take this drug.Read More Read Less

If I could rate this 0 stars, I would. Gained weight, moods swings were out of control, severe cramps all the time(which I never had before taking it) and breast pain. Ruined 4 months of my life.

I've been on this birth control for at least 2 years. I've been on other bc's before and always had my period for the whole week. With this pill I'm on it for about 3 days. It's been this way since I started using it (which isn't a problem with me). I'm just now having major problems with it. I've been on my period for about a month now. This has never happened to me before, they called it breakthrough bleeding. Hopefully this goes away sooner than later, I don't want to switch bc again.

I was on Chateal for about 9 months, primarily as birth control. The positive was that I never had any pregnancy scares. I set an alone on my phone and took the pill at the same time every day. Before I began Chateal, I never had any problems with major mood swings, nor spotting, nor heavy cramps. After I started taking Chateal, spotting was a regular occurrence, the worst in the last month. I experienced terrible mood swings and depression, usually in week 3, ending once I started my period, and the cramps lasted days. The final straw for me was when I started spotting a week after I ended my period, and it lasted through until I started my next cycle. I just finished my first week of Ortho Tri-Cyclen, hopes are high that the negatives I experienced while on Chateal will diminish or disappear entirely.Read More Read Less

After reading these reviews, I'm fairly convinced that the horrible mood swings and overall sadness I experience about once a month is directly related to Chateal. I've been on it for about 6 months and at first I thought it was great- my period is regular, cramps are fairly minimal and it's effective as a contraceptive. I haven't noticed much of a difference in weight gain/loss or my complextion. However in the past couple months I've noticed a decreased sex drive, and I get really sad/cry easily at any little thing. I was never like this before taking this pill. It's starting to put a strain on my relationship and I hate it. I'm looking to switch to something else ASAP. I wouldn't recommend this birth control, even if it is free through Planned Parenthood.Read More Read Less

No pill is perfect and I was not happy when Planned Parenthood gave me this instead of the TriCylce-type pill I wanted. But it turned out that Chanteal worked great for me. Everyone is different and that's why there're alway bad reviews for everything. I was on this pill for a year and a half. I recently got insurance so I tried the Cyclafem and have been bloated and full of acne ever since. Can't wait to get back to Chanteal.

Switched to Chateal after having a bad experience with Mirena. I received Chateal from Planned Parenthood. I've been on it since May of 2014. First, few months of being on it I didn't have any side effects, but these last few months my emotions have been a roller coaster ride. My sex drive is extremely low causing a big strain on my relationship with my boyfriend right now. Going to Planned Parenthood ASAP because I don't like the way this birth control is making me feel.

I was given this pill as a generic of the birth control I was taking before. Within 2 days I was spotting and then I began my period. It has been about 2 weeks now and I am still having my period, or what seems to be my period. The first week I was on this medication I was beyond moody and emotional. I do not recommend this medication at all!

DO NOT TAKE! I've been on b.c pills for 3 years now and Planned Parenthood switched me to Chateal. HORRIBLE! Ive gained weight, lost sex drive, had mood swings and anxiety and my face has broken out badly. Thankfully I saw everyone else's reviews and realized im not the only one here. Going back to planned parenthood tomorrow and getting my stuff switched ASAP

This is the first time taking this birthcontrol, I was on ocella and when my insurance ended I had to go to planned parenthood and they gave me chateal. All month I have been off, I have been dizzy, moody and my anxiety has been through the rough. I came home last night and my mom noticed a rash on my neck. I literally thought I was going crazy till I read all these reviews and put it all together. At the end of the month I'm stopping it and getting something new. Worst experience ever and don't reccomend it at all. Read More Read Less

I received this birth control from Planned Parenthood. Soon after I started noticing my skin had increased redness, and I was developing acne. I'm 28, and I haven't had skin like this since I was a teen. I even have a cystic pimple, and my forehead is breaking out, which is an uncommon area for me to break out. I also notice, I get a little nausea for 30 minutes after I've taken the pill.

Worst experience I have had with a birth control. I got it from Planned Parenthood as a lot of women have. I have some depression and anxiety already and oh my gosh I have never been so emotional, or irritable, or crazy before. I just quit taking it yesterday and I already feel slightly better. I also had horrible headaches that didn't go away and felt like complete crap 24/7. I absolutely do NOT recommend this to anyone who especially has depression or anxiety. It was nice to have sex with no condom but it is not worth it. Especially because it made my sex drive go down ironically once I got on it. Read More Read Less

I'm 22 and I've been taking Chateal for about three months now. So far no scares. this is my first time on birth control because my boyfriend and I thought it would be a good idea. On the plus side my periods are lighter and my boobs are a size bigger, but the downside I'm a complete crazy person. One second I'm happy the next I'm bawling my eyes out and scaring the ever living life out of my boyfriend. I've never been the type of person to feel sad or depressed. I get irritated super quickly and everything makes me cry. Apparently it has also changed the way I smell... So it's put a bit of a damper on my sex life. It's kept me from getting pregnant but I don't want to deal with the mood swings and lack in sex life anymore. It's frustrating. I would assuming talking to my doctor about changing birth controls would be the best way to go. Read More Read Less

PPH gave me this Bc to help regulate my periods. I took it for about a week and a half and glad I stopped last Thursday.. I am usually a calm person but this medication affected my mood and way of thinking severely. I started getting panic attacks and crazy thoughts. I would either feel annoyed and mad at anyone or I cried in the middle of the day for NO reason. It made me feel extremely anxious where I just wanted to sleep so I wouldn't have to feel that way. Also, made me lose my appetite. This is the second time trying a "pill" form of BC and last time unless someone knows of a pill that doesn't have bad mood side effects as this one then until then I will give bc another try. It gave me acne and I usually have clear skin. Save yourself the trouble girls, I don't recommend chateal to anyone.Read More Read Less

I asked Planned Parenthood for help regarding my moods, and Chateal was what they insisted so I had immediately switched from Ortho tri-cyclen to Chateal. The first few weeks went fine and then came my first period, and I experienced terrible mood swings. I was sure that it was because I made a switch and it was the transitioning stage, but as I never felt so down before, I was confused and became frustrated at everything and anything. My boyfriend of 5 years and I went through 4 days of hell (near the end of my period) and we almost broke up. We were both extremely confused and were shaken up by my period situation this time around. A few days later, today, I am still somewhat sad at random times and am struggling through these emotions. I never want to go through that again. After reading these reviews I am somewhat relieved and will think of new options.Read More Read Less
