After many years of having a regular flu shot with absolutely no side effects, I was persuaded to have the High Dose shot in Oct. 2012 when I was fit and well. Next day I had a swollen, red, sore arm covered in hives, headache, fatigue and diarrhea which lasted four days. Then over the past year I have had constant headaches and very low energy. I also had a dose of flu three months after the shot. Only now over one year later (March 2014) am I starting to feel better. The High-Dose shot has been a disaster for me and has taken a year out of my life. I believe it should not be given to a healthy senior, but only to someone who is in frail health. Do not have this shot.Read More Read Less

Within 5 hours of having the flu shot, became extremely fatigued. Went to bed at 9:30 Fri nite slept until Sunday morning. continued with flu symptoms for about two weeks, bronchial congetion continued for four weeks. At five weeks, I continue to have excessive fatigue, sleeping one to two hour more than usual usually by napping, sometimes in the morning.

10-12-13 is date of shot. I have had no problems with previous regular flu shots. Within 1-2 hrs. following this flu shot a bronchial, phlegmy cough developed , along with intense soreness & heat at injection site, and heartburn for 2 days now with feeling of small lump in throat when swallowing. Shot was received 2 days ago, so it too early to rate effectiveness.

Just had Fluzone High Dose injection yesterday, so cannot comment on effectiveness. However, I never have had side effects from flu shot in the past. This one provided me with rather rapid onset of sore throat and coughing (approx. 3 hours after inoculation). Menthol cough drops and an oral antihistamine relieved symptoms. I feel fine next day. Now hoping immunity lasts throughout the flu season.
