I have been on many different antidepressants over the last few years. This is the only one that has helped. I feel great. I have energy. I found it works best to take at night. I've had no side effects. It's does cost more but to me it's worth it.

I have been prescribed Brintellix to replace Lexapro. While the Lexapro had some crummy side effects, and didn't work for my depression, Brintellix isn't working eithter. In fact, now on week 4 I am dizzy as hell all day, am getting sick to my stomach, and I am as irritable as ever. This is a massive bummer.

Worked great as far as getting me out of bed and even going on walks with my husband. But after 4 days on 5mg I started feeling the most depressed ever. I would cry for anything and fight with my husband and kids over the smallest things. Every day my depression n anxiety got worse. Also my IBS came back so it wasn't strong enough to calm my stomach muscles. Doc took me off of it today and started me on lexapro so my fingers are crossed.

Taking for GAD, and minor depression. 2wks on 10 mg, then upped to 20 mgs. Easiest AD i have ever taken as far as start up side effects, and also most effective.

Like many here I have tried numerous antidepressants none have been very effective and many have caused side effects. The most significant side effect for me was ED. Brintellix has been salvation. I feel less anxious, less emotional and a overall feeling of calm and more positive state of mind.

I have been on Brintellix for 6 weeks. I started on 10mg for a week then I went up to 20mg. I take it at night and havent had any side effects. I have been depressed off and on since my 20's. I feel normal now.

Went from pretty fine to suicidal in 4 weeks in Brintellix. The physical side effects weren't too bad, if it worked, I'd be happy to keep taking it. But I've never gotten so depressed so fast. It's obviously not for me.

I began suffering from serotonin syndrome (poisoning) within 4 days after I began taking this drug. I ended up in the hospital for about 4 days. It is clearly NOT for anyone who has or suspects an issue with serotonin. If you aren't sure, monitor your condition VERY VERY closely for several weeks. Look for loss of control over body temperature, shaky muscles, nausea, diarrhea, loss of strength, general ill health like the flu but without other flu symptoms, etc.

Caused cognitive clarity and overall less anxiety. The blunted affect made me apathetic to others. Switched to Celexa after 7 months of being on Brintellix.

I have struggled with depression for 10 years and every medicine I've tried has left me dealing with tradeoffs. Either the medicine didn't make me feel normal and/or had side effects I couldn't reconcile. Finally I have found a medicine that is letting me live my life!

The effectiveness was very good. It treated my depression but the side effects are not worth it. I started on 20mg. which caused a host of side effects, i.e. nausea, acid reflux, diarrhea. My doctor switched me to 5 mg. I still have nausea, diarrhea. Its not worth the side effects plus the cost is ridiculous. I will stick it out until my next visit and then I will have to try something else. What a pity. You would think they could come up with something where the side effects are not so severeRead More Read Less

I'm 10 days into this one which isn't very long. Gaining weight, 15 lbs in 10 days... My sleeping patterns are different everyday. Finding I can sleep 14-15 hrs on this. Not cool. Suicidal ideology like I haven't felt for a long time. Brintellix f***ing sucks

I love this! After many medicine switches, this one actually worked! I have been happier, more cheerful, and it's been so different. The only reason I have 3 stars for satisfaction is after 3 weeks on the samples, they called it in, and it's over $100 (WITH INSURANCE), for a month. That's out of my price range, sadly. I wish I could stay on it because it worked! Is $1200 a year worth my sanity? Yes. If I had it, I would pay in a heartbeat.

I had my first episode of major depression and anxiety 10 years ago. I responded well to Lexapro. My second episode started about three years ago. Lexapro was no longer effective. In addition to taking Klonopin, I then tried Lamictal, Prozac, Zoloft, Pamelor Effexor XR, Lyrica, lithium, Wellbutrin XL, deep TMS (2x), Abilify, along with psychotherapy, diet, meditation, and exercise. I was pretty treatment resistant though exercise and therapy helped. The meds were largely ineffectual. When Brintellix came out, I asked my doc to prescribe it. I have been on 20 mg for about 4 weeks and on 10mg 2 weeks before that. It has definitely helped immensely. If you have been treatment resistant like I was, this medication is worth a shot. This is at least the 12th antidepressant I've tried over the last 15+ years. Everything else either had side effects I couldn't live with (impaired speech, flat affect, suicidal thoughts, stomach pain, etc.) or minimal efficacy. This is the best medication I've ever tried. I'm not depressed. I feel strong, confident, and not fearful. I'm not plagued by my normal thoughts of hopelessness. I'm having the best sleep I've had in years, and that alone is worth the high cost of this medication. I realize not everyone will have this result, but if you have tried many things and have not felt better, it's worth a shot. Read More Read Less

I have been on many antidepressants over the past 8 years in addition to other treatments such as therapy, lifestyle changes and was even on the verge of getting ECT for my MDD/BPD. All of the treatments I tried had limited success as far a depression goes. I started using Brintellix about a month ago and it has been, by far, the best treatment I've ever used for depression. Side effects were minimal at worst (Definitely not as bad as some of the other AD I've tried over the years). I've never written a review for medication before but this drug has worked so well for me that I wanted to share my experience with other people that may be in a similar situation.
