I had the Paragard and was always bleeding during/after sex, so I switched to the pill. I heard nightmares about taking the pill and was nervous. I can honestly say there have been very minimal side effects for me. I'll mention the ones you hear most about. I spotted for the first month or two. My periods were lighter right off the bat, though. After being on it for 5 months now, my period lasts o...

I have been scared to death that something was seriously wrong with me until I read reviews here! I have been having spotting and break through bleeding the entire 4 months I've been taking this and have had random cramping at all times of the month with last night being the absolute worst waking me up in the middle of the night and lasting for two hours before I could go back to sleep. I tried to...

The benefits of this birth control are few and far between. I've been on it for a year and noticed skin clearance as well as a next to nothing flow that lasted about four days. The downsides have been what caused me to switch birth controls. I PMS two weeks before I even get my period, and I mistook my moodswings and anxiety from the pill as depression and thought I needed to see a therapist. It has escalated into something awful. I take birth control because of my abnormally heavy periods and intense cramps. The pill has helped with both of these, but it's not worth the absolutely terrible moodswings.Read More Read Less

I have been on this pill for a year now and it has absolutely destroyed me psychologically to the point where I thought I had to see a therapist, but realized that it's definitely the birth control. I would start to PMS two weeks before my period. My anxiety and depression have been through the roof. It's absolutely awful and it's really been effecting myself and my family. I'm switching two a new birth control that will hopefully correct my mood swings. The plus side of this BC is that I would have little to no period lasting about 3-4 days, and my skin cleared up a lot. I also noticed an increase in cup size which is always nice. I can't wait to finally be off this thing because I can't handle how this pill effects me emotionally.Read More Read Less

I switched from Sprintec/Previfem to this due to emotional issues from being on a 7 day placebo. I have had no issues. I think so many birth control side effects are psychosomatic, so if you don't think about it, it doesn't occur. I work out regularly, and drink about a gallon of water a day. I have seen no change from switching and love having only 4 days of placebo pills.

I took this for birth control and to keep acne in check during menstruation. I rarely get acne now, and never before my period! Although it did make me gain 10 pound in about 2 weeks that are very difficult to get off (I work out every day, and the pounds stay, but muscle weight makes up some of the 10 pounds now). Overall, it's effective and only makes you gain weight at the beginning.

I love this. I switch to this pill from previously being on Aubra (really bad side effects on aubra) but lomedia is perfect. Occasional spotting here and there but nothing other then that. No weight gain, moodiness, or bad cramps. It also made my boobs bigger. I would definitely recommend taking this if you want to feel as if you're not taking a pill.

I use to suffer from bad painful periods. It got to the point that Codeine didn't work for me. After my first month, I noticed significant changes. My hormones are calm...no more mood swings. I'm happy to say for the first time in my life, I haven't felt highly irritated during the first day of my period. (Big improvement for me) My period is light, still some pain but nothing like before. I can take a NORMAL dose of midol and be fine! I'm anticipating that the symptoms will lighten next cycle versus this cycle. Overall, I'm glad I don't have to miss a day of work for my period! Read More Read Less

As switching from any birth control, the doctor says to give it a 3 month adjustment. I have seen a lot of people, probably younger, complain that it is not an instantaneous success. I also was terrified of the reviews I saw for masatrin or whatever Loesterin was, which included significant weight gain and suicidal thoughts. For the first two packs, I got my period on the second week and also on the placebo pills, but like a normal period with cramps. I was told it would be barely there. The first month, I also noticed a little bloating and mood changes, however I was changing from ortho-tri-cyclen. Start month 3 and I am textbook. Barely had a period this month, no break-through bleeding, no bloating and my mood is back to my normal self. I've never had too many problems with my period or birth-control anyway but after the adjustment all is still well. What I enjoy now is the light period. So for a TRUE review, here it is. I'm 26 and don't mind this BC. Read More Read Less

I was on Loestrin 24 FE for 7 years with no problem (and no cycle which was awesome!). When Loestrin went away I was switched to Minastrin and constantly had break through bleeding. No crazy hormone changes or acne break outs though. I tried to stick with Minastrin for 9 months, but then after having my cycle 3 times in one month I was over it! So my doctor thought I needed a high dosage of BC and put me on Gildess 1.5/30. I didn't have break through bleeding until the third month, my cycle was heavy when it came, and I was a crazy emotional wreck all three months. I finally did my own research and came across Lomedia. I will say the positives is I'm not crazy emotional anymore, I kind of got my bite back (in a good way), also no weight gain. The first month I was a little broken out, mostly on my shoulders, and my cycle started 2 days early, so I had it for a full 7 days. The second month I had break through (an actual full, but light, cycle for 7 days). But did not have a cycle during the placebo pills. I just finished up my third month, had another full 7 day cycle during the placebo pills, so it started a couple days early again. Im on my 4th month, just started my second week and Im having light break through again. For those on Lomedia, who has not had any hormonal or physical problems, did your cycle ever even out? Similar to what you experienced with Loestrin? I'm feeling good other than the breakthroughs and really would like to get this pill to work.Read More Read Less

I had a really bad allergic reaction to the medication. On day four I realized that it had to be the medication so I called the prescribing OB/GYN who acted liked I was crazy and it couldn't possibly be the Lomedia. I had already told them Loestrin was what I found worked but I guess in their haste they thought I was kidding and told me it was the same thing. It is not. There are fillers or is the correct word additives that cause many people reactions. I'm just confused why the filler ingredients aren't listed and aren't readily available so I and other people with similar issues can know for future use so we don't make the same mistake with other medications. It's obviously easy to use but hard when you can't take it that is why I gave it a 3 for use. The medication obviously didn't work for me but everyone is different. I'm just writing this review because when I first looked up the adverse reactions and then talking to my prescribing OB/GYN it was taken as totally obsurd. Just want people to look into what exactly is in the medication they are taking because sometimes the symptoms we try to cover are less severe than the side effects of the medicine. I have always had light-medium periods but slightly irregular. Not too bad but it was always a bit scary waiting for my period each month. The only real reason I went on the pill was for birth control because it is truly the most effective if used correctly. The first month I had spotting which is to be expected. I also had awful back aches the first 2 months during the inactive days. But truly if you take this it does work! Stick with it. I have had no problems and I love that there are only four inactive pills. I'd much rather have a shorter period. I would definitely recommend. Read More Read Less

Terrible nausea (even with taking it before bed), headache, loss of appetite (nausea), weakness, muscle fatigue, no sex drive.. unbearable. Symptoms gone when I stopped taking it. I took it at the same time everyday too.

I switched from Beyaz. I wanted to switch back to Loestrin 24 Fe but it was discontinued. So far so good, only complaint is some cramping going into my placebo pills.

When I was first prescribed a birth control pills I was put on Lo Loestrin Fe which my body had gotten used to over the course of a little over a year. In July I moved to a different state and the pharmacies wouldn't accept my prescription, so I unfortunately had to go to the doctor again. When I told him what I'd been using before he said I shouldn't have been on it and doctors just prescribe it to get more free samples. So he switched me to Lomedia. I was worried about switching because the first 3 months I was on my previous pill I had horrible breakouts. My first pack of Lomedia wasn't the greatest. My anxiety levels escalated, I became bloated for no reason, I had weird mood swings, it made me sleep funny, and I got multiple blemishes on my face ththroughout the month. My period wasn't a problem though; it was exactly like how it was on the other pill. I almost considered going back and getting prescribed to a different pill, but I'm glad I didn't. I'm finishing my second pack this week and all my previous problems are gone, except for an occasional mood swing. Also this month I've noticed a huge increase in my sexual drive. So I would recommend this pill. Just try to get through the first month. Read More Read Less

I was hopeful this pill would effectively replace Loestrin after it was discontinued last year. Sadly, Lomedia is not the answer. I just finished my 2nd pack and take the pill the same time everyday. I have been bleeding heavily for 6 weeks straight with very large blood clots. I am extremely bloated and my face has broken out. I was previously on the chewable Minestrin for 6 months and started breakthrough bleeding the last 2 months before taking Lomedia. Now I am off to try Junel Fe 1.5/30. I wish Loestrin would come back. Read More Read Less

I, like many others, was VERY disappointed when they discontinued Loestrin. The chewable replacement (Minastrin) was horrible. I was left frustrated and never knew about Lomedia until I started my own research because I hated Minastrin so much. I was hessitant due to the lack of reviews, but thought it couldn't get any worse... I have now been on Lomedia for a full month now and couldn't be happier. I seriously feel like I have my Loestrin back!! My skin is clearing back up, and all the bloating is gone. I've had a little break through bleeding, but that is to be expected while getting used to the new pill for the first couple months. No mood swings, no stomach problems, nothing! I never write reviews, but I felt I had to to help give others back their hope of finding a match to Loestrin. Everyone is different, but it is definitely worth a shot! I love it!Read More Read Less

Lomedia 24 fe was my first ever experience with oral contraceptives. I asked for a birth control that would help manage my hormonal acne and heavy period. When I first started taking lomedia I had heavy cramping that was painful and would last almost all day and since I used the "first day" method to begin taking lomedia it increased my blood flow greatly so I was so frightened that these side effects would not go away. Thankfully after my first month on this birth control my skin really cleared up and I didn't seem to break out nearly as much as I used to, but since I am now only on my second month I still continue to get occasional cramping and FREQUENT breakthrough bleeding. I tend to get breakthrough bleeding almost every day which can be irritating. Another thing I noticed were the mood swings, I have noticed myself getting irritable very easily and I find my mood to fluctuate a lot throughout the day. I am hoping that these negative side effects pass with time, but I am loving what it did for my skin and how easy it is to use. I would recommend this birth control if you are patient and don't mind waiting through the unpleasant side effects that it causes.Read More Read Less

I am 42 and recently presc. lomedia after being on loestrin for 8 months!! and did not subside my heavy bleeding and cramping. after 3 wks into lomedia my period came on and had the worse cramping, bleeding clotting in my life so much that I needed a transfusion. I have stopped taking this medication unbeknownst to my dtr and now ive been prescribed aygestin..NO thank you!! These synthetic hormones are not worth the aggravation. I'll stock up on pads and tampons until I find a dtr who doesn't want to just push pills, however, not before I tell her the unsatisfactory care I felt under her watch!! Read More Read Less

Im 24 and ive never taken birth control before Lomedia 24 fe so i cant compare it to others, but my experience has been 100% positive so far. I feel that my energy levels are elevated also I guess because of the balance in my hormones. The only thing is i had break through spotting on my first pack, but irregular periods was part of the reason for going on birth control in the first place, so that could've just been specific to me. My moods are stable, and also no cramping. Try it
