I am about half-way through my trial period (20mg h.s.). This drug is wonderful. I have had sleep problems for more than 30 years and have tried every medication on the market with varying degrees of success and nothing worked long term. This drug "lets" you fall asleep as opposed to being put to sleep. Another benefit --- no more night-time foraging for food in the fridge!! For the first time...

Waited over a year for this to come out. Took 5 mg last night, it did nothing. Trying 10mg tonight. Insurance doesn't pay for it. So if it works I'm up the creek. I've tried everything, ambien & others like it do nothing. Seroqeul effects my heart condition. I can't do mood stabilizers, old anti depressants. I had taken chloral hydrate for over 15 years. That worked perfect for me. The pharmaceut...

This medication for me is extremely effective. I can take maybe one fifth of a pill and I fall asleep for almost 8 hours without waking at all. A whole pill is too much and sends me to sleep for over 12 hours. Vivid dreams but interesting.

Terrible nightmares. Even when I tried to wake up and walk around, it returned me back to the same nightmares. Horrible feeling after waking up. Not interested in continuing the course.

Weaned off Ambien because it really screws with your mind and it was no longer working after 20 years. Chronic insomnia. Started Belsomra at 10 mg and it helped but not enough. I'm at 15 mg and get a good night's sleep. I do wake up every couple of hours but I still fall right back to sleep. I'm very happy with this medicine and hope I can take it for the rest of my life. It is extremely expensive though.

I had so much hope for this medication, I also jumped through hoops with insurance to be able to afford it. Last night was such a scary and sad experience. It gave me a nightmare that I was too upset to tell my husband about, and I did not sleep at all! I have an upset stomach, and cried from whatever crazy thing it did to me. Never again.

Belsomra keeps me wide awake all night and causes restless legs and tossing and turning. This is my 5th night on Belsomra and it will be my last. $450 is outrageous!

I was tried on this medication for little over a month. It wasn't effective at all. Very costly. Maybe it might help others.

This medication has not worked for me. I don't even feel sleepy after a half hour passes. I feel nothing. I felt nothing. The medication called Belsomra is a placebo? I did feel woozy one am, after picking something off of the floor, and that is the only thing I've felt on this so called insomnia medication.

I was in Belsomra briefly. Maybe a month? No other medication. No pregnancy. I was on nexplanon and didn't have partners. I began to lactate from both breasts. I'm a mother of multiple who has breastfed. I was far past it and began producing milk. And in one breast we had milk and blood. After a series of tests thr only possibility was determined to be a rare side effect of belsomra.

The 30 day prescription cost is $558.00 for Belsomra. I take 20mg, 30 minutes before bedtime. So far, zero effectiveness in helping my insomnia. I'm notifying Medicare Guidelines as this medication is equivalent to a placebo. Outrageous price w Zero effectiveness ??

After over two years of terrible insomnia, I took a prescribed a 5 mg dose and cut it in half to try it out. The cut was not even and I took the smaller half. In no time I could feel myself drifting to sleep, as if an awake switch was closing off. It’s hard to describe but sleep came so easy and it’s such a relief. I’m so happy to no longer have to struggle.

I gave a rating of fair b/c I've only been on Belsomra for 12 days & my Neurologist told me it would take at minimum, 2 weeks to get fully into my system. So far, I feel like I am falling asleep a bit sooner, but I'm also having some very weird dreams. Nothing nasty or terrifying... I weaned myself off of Ambien after 8 years b/c I knew it was messing up my brain & I was addicted. I did some weird things on that med & had regular hallucinations. I definitely don't recommend Ambien. I wasn't aware of not taking Belsomra every night. As far as I knew, I needed to take it nightly for it to be effective. One major negative is that I'm extremely drowsy & tired throughout the day. I'm not sure if it's the Belsomra causing this, but i haven't changed anything else. Read More Read Less

It worked. Then it didn’t. Then it did! Then it didn’t. 3 months of use and looking back, it was always problematic. It has consistently given me a disturbing uneasy activated feeling laced with hypnogogic hallucinations that create panic, fear, chest pain, and depersonalization into the following day. Just now realizing it was this med and not a previous one. Feeling of being awake but brain dead- uncomfortable and often terrifying. Do not recommend.

I've taken Lunesta 3mg for 18 months and while it worked early, lately it hadn't been as effective. Doc prescribed Belsomra 10mg. I tried the manufacturer's "free" 30-day trial, but Kroger Pharmacy said the manufacturer denied it? I wound up paying $160 for 30 10mg tablets. I took them for a week and they were worthless. No assistance at all in falling asleep and if I woke up to go to the bathroom, it would take 2 hours to fall asleep again. I got far less sleep taking this tablet than I do taking nothing. In my opinion (and evidently many others) this medication is worthless (but expensive!). Never again.Read More Read Less

Neither I nor my wife have slept well in a few years without pharmaceutical help. I tried CBD (caused issues with my heart rate), Gaba, Melatonin of varying types and Tylenol PM(only thing that seems to work is 2 but I feel groggy the next morning). Belsomra gave my wife weird dreams and did absolutely nothing for me or to me. Maybe they gave me a placebo at an Rx price. Maybe we are still part of the trial. LOL Go to their website and do the free trial first! We wasted our money on this drug.Read More Read Less

Like others on this site, I have struggled with insomnia most of my adult life, particularly post menopause. After taking Restoril, Klonopin (a nightmare), THC with CBD, Atarax, Doxepin, Trazadone, Ambien and most recently, Lunesta, I was prescribed Belsomra. After reading possible side effects, I was hesitant to try it, but I could not take another night of only 0-2 hours sleep, so I reached for the new medication. 10 mg was not particularly effective, but when the dosage increased to 15 mg, I was able to experience restful sleep with none of the worrisome side effects. I hope this lasts for more than 6-12 months!Read More Read Less

This stuff knocked me out cold. I woke up with the worst headache and diarrhea though. It made me feel SUPER weird. I mean, it’s great that I slept but I woke up with awful side effects. Worse than Ambien in my opinion.

Okay I have read the reviews having second thoughts but hey they told me ambien wasnt as strong and they are habit forming but not for me because I can go 2 maybe 3 days without sleep SO I’m crossing my fingers on this. The nightmares well thats life I thought. So first night taking it at 3a because I have no other medication, so will come back and let ppl know how it really effected me if any.
