Contracted onychomycosis on one toenail from walking barefoot in my garden. It spread rather quickly and by the time I tried my first treatment the fungus covered about 3/4 of my nail bed. Tried a medicine that you paint on like nail polish (Ciclopirox). It didn’t work at all. After trying the nail polish for a few months, I moved on to Tavaborole. Started the drops in March 2022 and by November 2022 my nail was clear. I used it diligently every night with drops under the nail and on top of the nail and cuticle area. I cut the nail down as I went, but cutting down too short can put you at risk of ingrown nails because the skin will grow where the nail once was. So I would advise to cut straight across as the mail grows out rather than trying to cut the mail super short to get rid of the fungus portion. Also don’t use the same clipper for your other nails.
