I had a very serious infection which was not responding to antibiotics, prescribed by my Personal Care Physician. Inflamation, tenderness around the area and soreness were the primary symptoms. My PCP had a culture taken and sent for analysis. very little bacteria were found but the results indicated the presence of . My PCP sent me to an ear nose and throat specialist. He reviewed the lab results, cleaned the ear and prescribed hydrocortisone-acetic acid otic solution. Because the infection began to spread to the outer surface of the ear, he prescribed a topical ointment (USP) mupirocin, 2%. The drops worked very well although due to the severity, I did not begin to experience relief for at least two days. The infection cleared up quickly after about one week of treatment but I remained with the treatment for nearly two weeks.Read More Read Less
