This drug is a 10 on my scale. The only side effect is a runny nose for a day or so. Results are nothing short of amazing. In two months, total cholesterol went from 222 to 107. LDL went down and HDL went up. I hope everyone gets the results I did.

Although the effectiveness of this drug in lowering cholesterol the side effects are not the issue. Its the overall change to your DNA because this is a DNA altering substance (Praluent). I have experienced an increase in iron content of my blood and this is a very dangerous medical problem as it can and will cause heart attack and stroke, the very problem that I am trying to avoid by taking the d...

I like that my chol level has decreased. I find the injector VERY difficult to use. I am a nurse having given many many injections and this is very hard to deal with the yellow safety needing to be totally level or the syringe locks up and the drug is wasted.

Severe hematoma's in both eyes repetitiously and non stop. Went back to Repatha. Hematoma's stopped completely. Numbers were lowered quite well but not as effectively as with Repatha. Muscle and joint aches were the initial reason for switching. Lowered my atorvastatin to 10 mg from 40 which has helped considerably.

I injected the first time and had no side effects two weeks later I injected the second injection and four hours later I was expiriencing horrible symptoms such as body ache and body cramps and fever, sending me to the hospital for 3 1/2 days with pneumonia (I have never had pneumonia before)and UTI infection, it was like injecting poison into my body, never again .

Tried drug after failing to tolerate repatha and statins. I am 70 to type 2 diabetic with significant cad: post 1 carotid and 2 coronary stents. Current Calcium score >1400. 12hrs post first and last 75mg injection, I developed flu like symptoms with headache and brain fog for over 3 days did not feel safe getting out of bed alone. And have experienced palpitations and increase from background BP. (It has only been 3 days since injection) Praluent helpline was useless (I can read package a package insert). I am waiting for a call from drug rep and when feeling up to it will contact FDA for post marketing patient experiences since help line could not provide information and referred me back to ordering provider. Provider did not mention any of my symptoms as a likely outcome for that matter neither did package insert. I have no intention of letting this lack of information continue without going down fighting. It is a said state when we know less information about a medication than the tread life of a set of tires on our car. Read More Read Less

I was on this med for 4 months (8 injections) quit taking in Mar. 2022. My life has been horrible since then and kept getting worse. I could not walk my leg muscles are so weak, I have patches of rash in several places on my stomach and back , very itchy. Then in June of 2022 my vison became very blurry. This is no way to live I can't walk, see, so I can't drive, I can't work or clean my home, cook meals . I have lost 25 lbs also, my appetite is non existent. (Alot of nausea). I have been to so many Dr's. They all refuse to agree with me about the cause of my debilitating condition. I don't know where to go , I want somebody to help me get treatment . I also had Rabdo in 2019 when an Er Dr. Said I was allergic to statins, then Praluent ruined my life. It's been7 months, I need ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Read More Read Less

I am 76 with high cholesterol and could not tolerate statins. My cardiologist put me on Praluent 75mg one shot every 15 days. I was fine before. After the 2nd shot I experienced a scary feeling of weakness in my legs which lasted some days. I was seen by a neurologist who ruled out any neural pathology. After the 4th or 5th shot I started having a feeling of pressure in my ears as though my head was close to explode, together with high bp (170-110) when I never suffered high bp before. My ENT ruled out any clear cause in my ears. One night I even had a bad tachycardia. All these symptoms had the tendency to worsen after every new shot. Eventually my cardiologist told me to stop Praluent despite he was quite reluctant to correlate my side effects with it. I am on no other meds. Now I had my blood checked, cholesterol is now slightly lowered (200) but my CPK skyrocketed to 245! I had stopped statins two years ago so it can't be an effect of those any more. Also I have frequent feelings of fainting. Please be careful with this med. It is still an experimental med, not all of its side effects are listed in literature and doctors will tend to deny them! Doctors only give credit to official trials with control groups but please read the actual experiences of patients before deciding! I think I will revert to taking statins supplementing with high dosage Q10. This drug made me spend the worst months of my life!Read More Read Less

With only four dosages reduced all readings dramatically by over 200%. Amazing so grateful. Cannot take any statins had statin toxicity after 25 years of statin use.

Horrific,Repatha was fine ,but Insurance made me change,3 weeks after 1st Injection, my eyes saw the world turn sideways, constant Migrane, nausea and Ocsillopsia attacks/Vertigo,2 to 3 times a week my balance would be gone, you turn into a pile of mush, and cant crawl or walk, just sit and throwup, attacks last an hour, then sleep for 5 hrs, then back to just nausea, migraine this happened for 5 months until I got off it,I went to the hospital,Ct and MRI normal,I got off it in 5-6 weeks I was ok,lost 3 months of work,it turns you into an invelid..Try Repatha instead.Read More Read Less

HORRIBLE BREAKOUT I have heart disease and cholesterol of 151 - every statin has horrible side effects on me so cardiologist wanted me on Rapatha but insurance would only over Paluent. I've tried 4x now to go along with cholesterol meds and this did it in for me. I injected in my right thigh abt 9pm, woke up at midnight with stomach pain so severe I thought about the hospital- it finally subsided. 2 hours later I awoke to a horrible itching on my right calf and turning the lights on looked like a horrible bite or infection. By the next morning my left leg broke out in a severe dark purple bubbled rash all over. Then my torso broke out with shingles. Multiple visits to my GP and dermatologist and all concur this was absolutely thr Praluent. Looking online, rashes and shingles can be side effects. My dermatologist said it made me break out in exczema, psoriasis and shingles at the same time. Im on high doses of Prendisone and topical heavy duty steroids and an anti-viral. When this is finally passed I'll be scarred to remember all of this. My cardiologist said Praluent is "typically well-tolerated" and wanted to try me on Rupatha- no way, period.Read More Read Less

Only took 1 75 mg shot. Experienced runny nose, diarrhea, nausea, back, stomach and hip pain. Also raised my bp 10 points. I already take 5 bp meds. Not taking another shot. Had high hopes for this drug as cannot tolerate statins.

I was hesitant to take this drug because it said it could cause muscle pain. Been there, done that and ended up in the hospital with Rhabdomyolisis twice. My doctor assured me that this drug could not cause Rhabdo. The day after I took this shot, I had bronchitis which turned into Pneumonia. 5 days later, I got severe muscle pain in my right arm. It has been over 6 weeks since I took the shot and I am still weasing and still have arm pain.

Praluent ruined my life! I was diagnosed with familial hypercholesterolemia and was prescribed Praluent by the cardiologist. If I knew then what I know now I would of never touched the damn injection with A barge pole! From the moment I took my first & last Praluent injection my heart started beating rapidly, my chest tightened up, short of breath, severe stomach pain, anxiety and vomiting! Admited to the hospital and doctors had no idea what Praluent is and I had to explain while I was in critical condition. Their advise was don't take anymore injection and wait until the Praluent gets out of my system which can take up to 3 months! Three months have passed and I am now in constant pain! I'm on strong pain killers, steroids and anti nausea medication. I also developed hypertension and I cant seem to bring it down even with meds! I don't think I will ever recover from this. If anyone had similar experience and had treatment for the horrible life changing side effects please share it with us.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Praluent for almost a year. My cholesterol levels have dropped dramatically, however, I have gained 20 lbs. and developed diabetes. I believe this is related to Praluent use. Physician questions my connection.

While this drug was very effective it's definitely not for me. It increases my night urinations, made legs weak, had severe night spasms/cramps, and made my thinking unclear. Felt like it was slowly but surely killing me.

My LDL went from 120 to 37 over the first two months, which would be great by itself, since cardiologists believe plaque regression occurs below 70. BUT I had an adverse reaction. All joints in my body swelled and ached, particularly fingers and knuckles. And I developed symptoms of OCD - intrusive thoughts- that I'd never had before. I stopped taking the stuff 6 weeks ago and the joints and OCD have not returned to normal. I am not a doctor, but I suspect that LDL plays a positive role in maintaining cell health and removing too much of it is a bad idea.Read More Read Less
