I have been on this for about 6 months. In the six months I have had light bleeding that lasts almost the entire month. Then I have my full period and would stop bleeding for maybe two or three days, but would always go right back to bleeding lightly here and there throughout the month. It has caused my Ph levels to be thrown off as blood increases your Ph. I have had horrible weight gain and acne...

I have been on different birth controls, on and off for 6 years. This is the worst birth control I have used. I was only on it for 3 weeks, I gained 5 pounds. I became overly emotional, my breast were so sore always. I found out I was actually allergic to this medication. I had extreme nauzia, dizzyness, blurred sight, light headed, shortness of breath, bloating, sweeling of face and toungue and h...

I have been taking this b.c for a little over a month now and I have not had all those bad side affects like some people get. I was on Ortho Tricyclen for a month and got so depressed and emotional it was awful. This pill really hasn't done anything for me. It has not cleared up my acne but I am hoping it will soon. Overall it does its job.

Im on my 2nd pack, although Levies makes ny period more manageable it has its cons. I experience more frequent random headaches, my mild acne before looks atrocious, and I've gained 6-7 lbs! Im a stickler about my weight bc every lb shows as im only 5'2" went from 111 to 118! I made sure to eat mostly healthy w/moderate exercise. Also I dnt believe its water weight. Im goin to take one more pack before I decide to remain on it or not.

The reason I am on birth control is to control my terrible periods and acne. I originally started taking Yaz, and then came to college and decided to go the less expensive route with health department free stuff which resulted in me getting Levora. One week after starting this pill, all of the acne that had been under control for 5 years reappeared in the form of cysts on my face and chest. NO amount of acne wash or creams helped and my skin just kept getting worse. My periods got worse as well, I started having terrible cramps again and bloating something terrible. I would NEVER recommend this pill to anyone. It is terrible and I am going back on Yaz after 3 months. I would rather pay the price for Yaz than spend all my money on pain killers and acne fixers. I was on this for a few months about a year ago and had a terrible experience. I gained weight despite healthy diet and exercise, broke out in acne worse than I had in years and was moody and upset nearly all the time. I don't know if that was a result of the birth control itself or just my body's reaction to hormones, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

So I'm on Levora for my heavy periods and bad cramp today is my 5th day using it.. I'm only 16 years old going to be 17.. So This pill is making me have BAD mood swings today out of no where I got so irritated and I don't even know why! It's crazy. I feel sick like really nauseated it's a wierd feeling. I don't know if it's the pill doing that but I hope it is cause it's kinda freaking me out. Does anyone else feel sick? Irritated? Having problems sleeping? All of a sudden I'm feeling like this. I have been on this drug for about 3 months. I have been skipping the placebos so far to avoid getting my period. I have gained 10 pounds which is due to major mood swings and the increase of appetite that I believe comes from the pill. I am a smoker(3-6 cigarettes most days, some days i don't smoke.) I have endometriosis, which is one of the conditions this pill is supposed to help with. Other than mild cramping/discomfort everything was going fine up until 11 days ago when I started spotting and having a low flow period with uncomfortable cramping. I'm very upset because this "contraceptive" is going above and beyond it's call of duty by not only controlling birth due to hormone changes, but also forcing me to be completely abstinent due to a very lengthy menstrual cycle.Read More Read Less

Before taking Levora, I used to experience VERY painful periods, mainly sharp pains in my abdomen. My boyfriend would tell me I would clutch my stomach at night and wake up crying because of the pain. After my 2nd month of taking Levora, those pains ceased to exist and now my period doesn't debilitate me in any way. It's guaranteed you're going to have side effects when you mess with your hormones. After the week of taking the inactive pills, my stomach gets upset when I start the active pills up again. I just make sure to eat close to the time I take my pill during that week and I'm good to go. Also, during the first couple of cycles, I was excessively hungry. I think increased hunger might be one of those contributors to the infamous "birth control weight gain", but I gained maybe 3 lbs, if anything. I've had a good experience on this pill. It may not be the right fit for everyone (like any other BC pill), but I am pleased with the outcome so far. Read More Read Less

Overall Levora does its job. I have been on it for 4 months and it's been effective in preventing pregnancy even when I have taken it a couple of hours late because I have forgotten. My partner and I think it has decreased my libido--and I have a higher libido on the reminder pill week. I have gained 10 pounds while on this pill but I am not certain there's direct causation. I also experienced profound PMS recently--feeling very sad out of the blue. On the plus side the periods are light and about 3 days. Don't be freaked out if you don't get your period until the 4th day of the reminder pills--it can take a while.Read More Read Less

I am 44 have been on pills for years to prevent ovarian cysts. This pill stopped breakthrough bleeding but severely changed my blood pressure/heart rate, gained 1 pound per week, & had crazy mood swings. My normal bp is 114/70ish, my weight has been the same for about 8 years & am pretty easy going. The only change was this pill...I switched to microgestin & all is normal again. Get off this pill right away if you are having these symptoms...this is my 1st review in an attempt to help others. Read More Read Less

To be clear, I take this pill every day to avoid pregnancy and not to alleviate period symptoms, acne or other benefits of the pill. I'm in a monogamous relationship and do not use a backup method of birth control, but we've never even had a scare. That's my main concern with any birth control pill. However, I really appreciate the much lighter menstrual flow (none at all if I skip the placebo week) and my skin is fairly good, but it took a few months for my body to settle in with the hormones and re-regulate itself. I never had any weight gain, awkward hair growth or mood swings. I experienced slight breast tenderness and some breakthrough bleeding for the first couple of months, but it subsided. I've been on many birth controls over the years..lowestrin, othrotryclyclin, yaz, to name a few. Levora changed my personality - I was crying all the time, anxious, racing heart, just COMPLETELY out of whack.

No painful issues, but I have had a significant amount of weight gain. I am a distance runner for my school so I exercise a ton but I can't seem to stop the weight gain. My breasts have been tender since starting the new pill (about 4 months ago). I am hoping to switch to a lower dose to cut down on the weight gain!

I have been on Levore for about 10 years now. I took orthotrycyclin for the 2 years before that. I take the pills continuisly and only for off for 5 days every 3-4 months. I love this pill. It has worked wonderfully. The lenght and heavyiness of my period has decreased and the cramps are much more managable as well. I would reccomend it to anyone that has heavy, long periods with lots of cramping.

I switched to levora from ortho eves tri cylin lo about 7 years ago. The ortho eves gave me terrible mood swings and I couldn't stop crying so I quit after one pack. I have been on levora ever since, about seven years now. My period is light and regular and only lasts three days. I love this pill and have had no weight gain no hair loss no acne, nothing. Its been perfect and I will never switch to another pill!

For the last three years I switched between Nordette, Portia, and Levora depending on what the pharmacy was carrying(all the same pill but Portia and Levora are the generic version of Nordette). The first two years were fantastic. My bleeding noticeably lessened each month, no nausea, no weight gain, or tender breasts, and the pain of menstrual cramps drastically decreased. Plus, I did not get pregnant. However, in the third year I noticed that I began getting pimples around my mouth and on my chin, on my upper chest, and some on my back. My face would always break out the week before my period. Also, decreased sex drive. I thought maybe I was stressed, but I kept track of when we had sex, and it was only in the 1st and 3rd weeks. Always the same, those were the only times I had the urge naturally. I talked to my doctor, and she said the pimples clustered around the mouth indicate hormone imbalance. So, this pill worked perfectly for 2 years, but then my body's hormonal needs changed. I would recommend this pill to women have bleeding in their 3rd active week.Read More Read Less

I have been using Levora for about 8 months now and in the last 2 months I have gained about 15 lbs, gotten hot flashes, horrible headaches, and my mood swings are bad.I was on the Nuva Ring before and Levora is deffinetly better, but I am going to stop using it. The side effects are too much for me.

I am not satisfied with this product because it makes me dizzy and very tired. I feel like I have pulled an all nighter when I had an excellent nights rest. I have been on the pill for a month now, and my boobs got very tender and swollen. However, I did not get pregnant, and I did not gain weight. Overall, this drug made/makes me very tired, and that is very disturbing. fatigue is not fun.
