I was originally started on ortho-tricyclen for pregnancy prevention as well as acne. I worked great! Then came the generic version, which worked ok. THEN, the generic of the generic version came out, which was AWFUL!!! My acne was back and WORSE!! My moods/emotions were all over the place! I called my OB/Gyn doc and requested that she send my pharmacy ortho-tricyclen immediately! I didnâ??...

I’ve been on this medication for three years. I am very hormonal during my period and recently it’s gotten worse. Last month I was extremely hormonal for 3 weeks straight, along with tender breast and cramps but no blood. I did like this medication, but now I worry if it’s what’s causing me to be more hormonal. And if I’ve always been very hormonal because of this medication. My doctor has prescribed me vestura now and I hope it works! ???? Overall I’ve enjoyed this medication and am afraid to try the new one but here goes nothing!Read More Read Less

My insurance no longer covers my preferred birth control that I had been using for 7 years straight... Unfortunately I had to try this... For this first two months it worked ad I am assuming because my previous birth control was in my system still... Now on my third pack and I have been on my period and bleeding for three weeks straight... I do NOT recommend this to anyone I am literally miserable.

This is my 3rd birth control that I have tried and it has honestly been the best. Some of the reviews say the packaging is confusing which is the only part I have to complain about. If you look at the back then it is easy to follow, but it does not show the days on the fronts of the pack. As for side effects, I did not really experience any, maybe a slight mood change but nothing crazy for me personally. My other birth controls were absolutely terrible and completely messed up my hormones but this one has seem to be working for the past year. Read More Read Less

THEN, the generic of the generic version came out, which was AWFUL!!! My acne was back and WORSE!! My moods/emotions were all over the place! I called my OB/Gyn doc and requested that she send my pharmacy ortho-tricyclen immediately! I didnâ??t care how much it was going to cost! When a drug company feels the need to make the GENERIC version of the GENERIC VERSION, they need to re-evaluate their mission. Also, where do pharmacies get the right to determine what version the patient gets? If Iâ??m on ortho-tricyclen specifically for acne, and itâ??s working, where does the pharmacy have the right to send me the generic version without my consent? I wonâ??t get on my soap box about the health insurance companies, but you can see the source of the problem.Read More Read Less

I HATE the packaging of this bill so much. The ease of use is garbage and I constantly feel like I'm taking pills on the wrong day. I know this sounds ridiculous because the days are right there on the back of the package at the top but I far prefer having the days on the front of the pack and on every day! I've taken practically every generic of this kind of BC because my pharmacy literally just throws whatever they have lying around at me, and this is my least favorite pack by a country mile. The name also sounds like it's something out of Norse mythology. HATE IT. Read More Read Less

The first week of taking this pill my acne was slowing starting to clear up. But now at the end of the second week it came back with a vengeance on my chin. Is this normal??? I know it will probably get worse before it gets better but it may just be too soon to tell.
