I’m going to try to do a long story short. I went from pain pills (for 10yrs) to vivitrol back to pain pills to suboxone to subutex to sublocade over about a 6 year period… suboxone made me sick, subutex was unstable with feeling “okay”. I’m a VA patient (Guinea pig) so the nurse I had was learning about this as well. It’s a thick liquid so she was doing the injection over a 30-45 second time period which while burning like a ?? is excruciating! I was on it for 10ths so finally by the last shot or two I asked her to just go fast and it was 100x better. So my first shot was February 2022 and my last shot was November 2022. 9 months. I do suffer from depression/anxiety/ptsd but it’s seems over these 16mths, my mood is far more unstable like I am still having a low form of withdrawl. The agitation, overstimulation, low motivation, easily tired, poor appetite type if withdrawl. I get headaches close to every day and I am still showing dirty for it in urines. They told me up to a year which I was prepared for but this is exhausting. I don’t normally write reviews but I think it’s important being as most addicts also have mental health problems. Physically I feel mostly great, but mentally I just want it to be over so I know where I stand mentally, sober. So to sum it up, it worked effectively while on it, but when you choose to get off… being as it leaves your system sooooo much slower, so can some of the side effects/symptoms. I was on the Suboxone strips the highest dose you can take. I've been on them for about 5 years. I take THREE 8/2 MG a day. Well I want to get off of it I'm tired of withdrawals. So I turned to my doctor about the sublacade shot. She promised me it would make the withdrawals go away without having the hassal of the Suboxone strips. She did give me a couple strips to last me the month just in case. Well I'm glad she did. I took the shot about 3pm and I was soooo surprised that it worked! I didn't need to take any more extra strips that night!!! Which amazed me then In the morning I usually withdrawal as soon as I wake up but didn't. ALTHOUGH around 12 that morning..I started to withdrawal its like I felt it wearing off. I was sooooooo mad. I really had faith in it I did have a little bit of hesitation but now I don't know what to do. If I call my doctor back and tell her all of this she probably won't believe me idk she talked about it like it was the Greatest thing and ohhh it'll work forsure you won't feel any withdrawals well she's wrong. They do these test to see how much Suboxone is in your system maybe she can look at that and realize and figure out why it's not working. Suboxone strips barely absorbed in my body my test were low and idk why I was taking it the right way every day!!! This is so frustrating now IDK what to do can't go back on the strips cuz my body was barely absorbing it even though I was definitely taking it right. Don't want to be on the sublacade shot because I withdrawal the day after I took it. If only it lasted like the day I took it for the rest of the month. After 25yrs on methadone, I look back on those years as simply black. Feel like I have been in a methadone bubble for that long, that I don't even know myself anymore. Since changing to sublocade, I am about to have my fourth injection, after still using bits of heroin on top, however I have managed to cease my use in last week, due to blockage. I feel and hope that this fourth injection, takes me in the right direction.

Took the first injection (300mg) January 2023. Took last injection (150mg) March 2023. It’s now November 28th. After over 8 years on Subs, 16mg, I’m now free of it all. Only trick is to either finish or throw away any remaining subs. You do not need them. I actually took my last 6 after the first injection within a few days. I was nervous. It’s was the habit of taking the subs I had to get used to. Do not wait to take the Sublocade injection. I am finally free of the monthly doctor visits. Wish I had more time as I’m at work now. I was a heroin addict for over 20 years and I could not get long-term recovery when it came to opioid use! I've now been cleaning from heroin over years now thanks to sublocade!

Taking Suboxone strips everyday was just too up and down for me. I would feel ok when I first took it in the morning, then feel crappy within the middle to end of the day and know I need to take more. With sublocade you don't get any of that. No ups and downs and feeling like you need to take another strip. I feel normal, all day, everyday. In fact, I do not get the shot every 28 days because I don't need to. I go 5 weeks in-between shots and feel perfectly normal. I wish this was around when I first stopped opioids.Read More Read Less

So i been on suboxone film over a year i read postive reviews regarding the shot. I got 100mg of it and couple days later i started feeling withdrawal. I went to my doctor n they told me to take 2mg suboxone film today. I noticed i have a horrible headache and blurred vision now. N my sleep us horrible it could be due to the drug since it messes w your breathing. I went on the shot because i want to be free of the drug. The spot is sore where they injected it which is in my left lower abdomen where theres some fatty tissue. Im 5'2 and only 110 pounds. I still dont have much of a appetite. Im hoping im able to come off in the next few months. B4 the film i was on methadone for 5 years. I haven't used street drugs in 7 years. I tried calling rehabs b4 getting the shot to come off the suboxone but they wouldn't except me. I guess you have to be worse off?? All i know is i want off just have to put my mind to it. Im wondering if they check your liver enzymes like there supposed while on the shot. I guess ill have to ask my family doctor to order tests. Ill be back with updates in a month. I have been opiate use for years after an MVA in 2002! I’ve been struggling with pain, life, family and work! I finally got fired from my job! Broke up my marriage and finally estranged from my son! I just want to say that after 20 years of suffering & seeing all types of specialists I was doubtful but to my surprise! I can’t believe it worked for me! I stopped all the drugs I was on for the pain and the ones for the side effects which were 5 times! Now I have no pain doing things I haven’t done in years! I living a fuller life now! I was on Suboxone for 13 years due to an addiction to over the counter pain medication and in the past year I’ve been on the Sublocade injection. I found I didn’t get the highs I got with the films but I also didn’t get withdrawal either. I’m now almost 10 weeks since my last injection and I’m feeling really good so far. Nothing much to report except I feel the cosy blanket I had around me has been lifted.

Great if you just want to use Suboxone and forget about it for a month. I was on 24 mg of suboxone tabs then switched to Sublacade. I have not had a good experience. Cravings for sure and it almost feels like nothing is even there. Basically just feels like I’m taking it to not get sick. It is trash. If you have never been on Suboxone then this may be for you.

After being prescribed pain pills for a number of years I made the terrible decision to try heroine. That led to an addiction that lasted far to long and took nearly everything from me. After going to treatment and sober living I have just celebrated 5 years without drugs. At first I was on suboxin. It caused awful thresh in my mouth so I went to zubzolve. That was fine it worked. I was able to stay clean and rebuild my life. Got my kid back have a stable job ect. Dr. said I should try the shot ..so glad I did. I feel like I have more energy I have lost weight. I don't feel like I think about any of it but once a month when I get my shot. The 300mg hurt no doubt. But after 3 of those u go to the 100mg. Those dont hurt. I've been stable on Suboxone films for 8 years. I wanted to give sublocade a try in hopes it would help me get off the medication all together. From day 4 or 5 I started feeling not so great, which I thought was mental. My withdrawal symptoms have Increased to a point where it's almost intolerable. My doctor can't prescribe me films for another 2 WEEKS ! I have no idea how I'm going to make it through this and stay clean. Self sabotaging at its finest.

As promised I’m back 4 months post my last shot! I was scheduled to go in to have my 6th shot but got really sick with a bad cold. I rescheduled for the end of the following week and felt absolutely no withdrawal symptoms. So by the time that appointment came around I felt confident in not getting it. So I didnt. Around 4-6 weeks after my last shot I noticed extremely mild ( and totally manageable) withdrawal symptoms. I was a little more tired, and a little less motivated for about a week or so, and I noticed I was using the bathroom a little more frequently. This was nothing I couldn’t handle while living my every day life. When I tell people I know who are on maintenance how easy this shot was to switch to and then go off of they can NOT believe it. It really does seem too good to be true. As addicts all we know is taking something , and getting sick without it…whether that was in active use or maintenance… but with this shot it does not have to be that way anymore! I just want to state to be clear that everyone is different and may need to get the shot only a few times, or many more times than I did ( studies have shown the best results with the most minor withdrawal symptoms is at least 5-6 shots before stopping)so make sure to do what’s best for you! I was on 16mg for about a year when I went in to start the injection process I told the Dr that I had been experiencing mild withdrawal symptoms on the 16mg Suboxone he suggested bumping me up to 24mg for 2 weeks prior to the injection I took his advice and went to the 24mg. Now after the shot I felt great for the first 48 hours or so but now I'm on day 7 after the injection and I have been having moderate withdrawal symptoms for the last 5 days bad enough I even missed a day of work. I would not recommend this medication if you are on a higher dose than 16mg of Suboxone maybe even less. Hoping my body regulates and the withdrawals get better, I really wanted to get off this crap. I was convinced in prison to get on the Suboxone to "help" with cravings and that once I was ready all I would need was the shot. Should've never listened to them, feel like I was setup to fail. Hi I got ONE sub shot 6 months ago , helped me finished my recovery and worked fine for me , or so I thought . Immediately after the shot I felt funny for almost two weeks before feeling normal . But now 6 months later , the lump in my abdomen is nearly the same size it was initially. It’s uncomfortable and sometimes even sore . And I can’t find ANY Information on the internet about this happening to anyone else . I would appreciate any information - thanks

I hardly ever review things but after reading some of these comments I felt like I def should… I was a decades long narcotics user. Starting with pills in high school and years later taking the deeper fall into fentanyl and cocaine use. Finally hitting rock bottom 3 years ago I decided enough was enough and started taking 8mg films (4mg in am and 4mg in pm) this went on for a few years with no complaints, cravings, or relapses. My doctor mentioned she’d starting giving the shot out in the past 6 months with much success if I ever wanted to try that. She made the process very easy by also prescribing me 5 8mg films for during my bodies adjustment to the shot. I felt barley any side effects. It was mostly all the mental hurdle of you’re not taking anything anymore. I have now had a total of 5 shots (2 300 mg shots) and 3 100mg shots and I’m talking with my doctor about stopping if not this month, in the near future. Whenever it is it’ll be my choice. A few of her patients have finished and reported almost no withdrawal symptoms bc of long the medication last in your system. I just wanted to also note bc I see so many people talking about how painful it is. My doctor first injects a small amount of numbing medicine in the area about 5 min before I get the shot and I literally wouldn’t even know I was getting the shot if I wasn’t watching her do it. I would def recommend to your physician that they use some sort of numbing agent bc it really does not have to be that painful. Everyone’s experience is obviously different but mine has been nothing but positive and painless. I was a heroin addict for 8 years starting when I was 18 and I’m now 26. I went straight to injecting. I have tried various out patient Suboxone programs and nothing worked for me because it wasn’t a strict enough program. I knew if I didn’t take my subs for 2 days I could go back to getting high. I went into residential treatment coupled with 8mg Suboxone twice a day. When I got out I got on Sublocade and this medicine has saved my life. I just got my 3rd 300mg shot today and I started in October. I’m now able to go on about my day without even remembering I’m on it which is a huge boost for my mental health. Granted the injection does hurt so so bad but in the end the once a month uncomfortable pain versus everyday addiction and withdrawal symptoms is a no brainer. I have had zero cravings or thoughts to relapse. It’s up to you. You know your addiction more than anyone and you’ll truly know if it’s right for you. The mediation killed my husband. He was on an antidepressant Cipralex. Within 3 days of the injection on Nov 10th he started to have cycling, obsessive ruminating thoughts, nothing could change his mind, he distanced himself, on the 18th had suicidal thoughts and on Nov 23rd he killed himself. He was a loving husband and father and all around Akzo man. We didn't know about his suicidal thoughts. I found all the information in his web browsing history. He acted positive face to face, but was struggling inside. In his browsing history he also looked up the side effects of this medication and suboxone withdrawal. He knew something wasn't right. Unfortunately his prescribing doctor never followed up and his suicidal thought became a reality. Myself and his two young sons are devastated. I've have been off sublacade for over a year stopped injections of July 2021. It's now November 2022. For the first 11 months it was still showing up in my urine. Then for the last six months my urine has been clean of it. All of a sudden my urine is all of a sudden positive for Suboxone again... How can this be? The whole situation is getting me in trouble I'm in treatment court and all of a sudden my urines are positive for something I haven't used in over a year and a half. I was on strips for 2 years. I was pressured for months into taking this shot. I finally gave in and I have never regretted something more than this. First day I got the worst headache of my entire life and vomited non stop. Continued for about a week then things got better. Was concerned about taking another but pressured by doc again so I took it. That is when my he** began. Headache so bad I lost vision and thought it was an aneurysm. Vomiting. Heart palpitations. Muscle spasms. Vertigo so bad I can't walk a straight line. Left side numbness. The worst anxiety I have ever had. Four weeks of pure and utter He**! Multiple ER visits from terror I was dying. To be told nothing they can do. It just has to wear off. When i told my clinic I hated it and no longer want to take it I was discharged as a patient.
